Star Wars Battlefront
Anyone play it yet? I was thinking about picking it up for my Xbox. Just wondering what people had to say about it so far.

I played the Xbox demo that came with the trilogy DVD. This game looks terrible compared to the top-end modern games. It's not in the same class as Doom 3, Unreal 2004, Chronicles of Riddick, Ninja Gaiden, etc.
The game graphics looked pathetic, and the Xbox can do a lot better than that. Unreal is so much better IMO.

My son has it on Playstation 2. Pretty good game, but as is with all LucasArts games -- not awesome.
Online is kind of poor because it relies on user PCs and other PS2s to host the online games. You can set up a game on your PS2 for others to play, but you can't play, if you use dedicated mode.
Non dedicated mode is very slow and choppy.
xBox live may be better if they host their own games. Most xBox live titles we have provide very good online gaming.

Lucasarts games normally suck, but have you played their recent SW games? Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, and Knights of the Old Republic were developed by outside vendors for LucasArts, and all 3 games were incredible.

Interesting that you liked those three, 56; what did you think of the Bounty Hunter game?

I didn't like it at all. I thought the player model on Jango was pretty cool, and the sound effects of the suit were great, but the gameplay sucked. It was either too hard, too easy, or too confusing. Bounty Hunter was made by the same group that made that tragic, piece-of-crap Obi-Wan game.
Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy however are awesome games. Outcast even got game of the year on Gamespot a couple years ago. Jedi Outcast has been my favorite computer game of the last 5 years, and all the downloadable mods for it that people made for it made it even better.
Jedi Academy was in the same league as Outcast, but I think they tried to do too much w/ that game and I had a lot more fun with the swordfighting in Outcast... the saber-wielding enemies were more fun to fight.
KOTOR was in a class by itself. It's the only RPG I've ever liked and I can't wait for KOTOR 2 to come out. If only the prequel movies were as deep in plot and character as KOTOR.
Do you not like these games?

I was going to get it, but I heard online play sucks.
I think SOCOM 2 is the best game for online war play. Anyone else play it?

As games go, there are many good ones out there in the world, but the Star Wars games are generally decent, but not great. I haven't played all of them, but we do have 1) Clone Wars, 2) Battlefield, 3) Star Wars Racer's Revenge (pod racers) which is pretty good, 4) Bounty Hunter -- fair, and 5) GameCube Rogue Squadron 3.
I had really high hopes for Rogue Squadron 3 but it's alright. It's great to play with the Star Wars characters, but the graphics are marginal and the gameplay is fair.
My favorite games are Project Gotham Racing 2 on xBox -- more of an adult game -- and Ratchet and Clank/Jak series on Playstation 2. Graphics and gameplay are awesome.

I picked up the XBox version from Best Buy for $38.99. Got them to price match the sale price from Fry's Electronics.
I've been reading that the multiplayer on the XBox is much better than what you see on a PC or a PS2.
I haven't had a chance to play it yet.

I am between games and pulled out the old Lucas Arts Star Wars game X-Wing vs Tie Fighter (and the Balance of Power add-on)
What a fantastic game,... even now. Unfortunately it's limited to 640x480 but it is still a great game.

I've got Star Wars Battlefront for the xbox. It's a decent game, but you can easily rent it and beat the single player in probably 8 hours. I haven't really done much with the multiplayer and I don't go on xbox live.

Vince56 named the three best, you should really check those three out much better than the ones you mentioned...checkout Gamespot if you want to see their ratings...
