I'm gearing up to start a ShadowRun campaign in the West Valley - looks like it will be are the beginning of May. Don't know if anyone might be interesed.

I haven't played any pen and paper RPG's. Someone a while back said though that they wanted to get Neverwinter Nights game going for some of us at ASFN, they were going to DM it. Can't remember who that was. Was that you Fischer?

If anyone still wants to do that, I am game.

Yes - that was me, however my computer has been on the fritz since december - i can't even play solitare without it crashing during the middle of it.

I have tried a couple of times to get Neverwinter Nights up and running but nothing doing.

I am going to build a whole new machine soon, and as soon as I do, I am going to throw NWN on it.

I am sure between the two of us, Ryan and I could figure out what the deal is with your computer.

Well, if it's on the fritz, I would just look into reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling everything.

I do this pretty much once a year anyways, it just cleans up your computer, keeps it running efficiently.

I can help you out Shawn if you need it.

Hey if you guys want anyone else to join, I would gladly jump in, though I would not want to DM.

I haven't played since about the time I was fourteen or so, but I actually have kept up with the changes to D&D (I also bought some of the Vampire books also).

I typically GM the Shadowrun stuff and my wife is on me to GM the Vampire Game since that's the one that she is the most familiar with and she likes. I've never played the Vampire on, but we do own many of the source books and the core rule book for it.

The AD&D worlds (Forgotten Realms being my favorite) is too "dice" heavy with not enough role-playing aspect according to my wife - so she won't play it. However, I think she's suffered through some bad DM's who didn't know how to run a game and were more about hack 'n slash than story and substance.

If you are interested in the Shadowrun game, I'll get you in. I'm think of going about twice a month because of peoples schedules.

I think it was I that brought up the RPG topic months ago.

Bill Coffin, one of the more prolific game writers in the RPG business and former Palladium heavyweight, has formed his own company to write new games. He hopes to make engrossing and fresh games without much cost or burden (no need for endless modules or supplements, effective and simple but well-rounded character generation, fun and realistic combat mechanics). He is currently about to playtest his first new game and if all goes well that game will be available in a few months. Already, dozens of groups are primed to do the playtesting.

I am part of that company. While I am part of the creation of the games and its concepts, my specialization will be fiction. At the same time games are produced, we’ll be putting original fiction out based on that particular gaming environment. This will not only enhance the game and denote its particular ‘feel’ but supply another recognized demand (and round out the gaming experience).

The website for the company is also being created, and it will be more interactive and responsive to gamers than any other RPG company. Our original business plan is to offer the games online for free. Then, when interest escalates and a following is developed the games might make it to actual print. We are already in talks with a microprinter, though I am not sure of the current status of that side of the plan.

Bill wants to create games that are unique and very fun to play. He doesn’t want to hook people into buying book after book after book. I think he has a pretty good shot and making his mark on the industry.

Anyway, as this whole thing develops I can certainly keep everyone posted.

As to an online thing, how fast of a modem would you need for that? I might be interested in doing the NWN, though I don’t currently have the game.

Wow - that's awesome stuff there - pretty cool.

I am still interested in doing the NWN - but first I need to get my computer situation under control. As soon as that is done, I'm a go for that.

So you already have all your playtesters? That's a bummer. Let me know when your guys site goes live, I'd be interested in checking it out.

Shawn,

Do you want me to inquire as to whether he needs more playtesters? While he has the east coast and parts of England covered, he might not have many representatives from the south west.

I'd probably be interested too, I have a pretty good system to test it on.

I'll inquire if he needs more playtesters.

HOWEVER, this is NOT for a computer-based RPG. There will be a website for it, but it is for an AD&D type paper and dice game (though light years ahead).

Yes, that would be cool. I wouldn't mind giving it a workout.

Has anyone here played Palladium games?

I've put in an inquiry, and I'll see what he has to say. He might be full up, but we'll see.
