And more importantly (IMO at least), RB2 will have a downloadable pack of 20 songs this fall that they didn't have time to put on this disc, for free. That's called making a statement. Activision is officially under notice.

Oh, and Guns n Roses has a track from Chinese Democracy on it.

Edit: according to the press release, "most" of the RB1 on-disc songs can be exported to RB2, rather than all. It will be interesting to see what that's about.

My guess is that some of the songs on RB1 (that are not masters) will probably not make it over. All the music games seems to be making a big deal about Master only recordings. Personally, as long as the tribute band sounds good I could care less.

Harmonix last year stated that because some of the older bands/artists have masters that are tangled up in a web of ownership some masters just can't be obtained. They also stated that in some instances the Masters no longer exist. That probably encompasses some really good music.

Per an article I read yesterday, Harmonix is having some licensing issues with 5 songs. That is the reason that they may not make it onto the RB2 download list.

Makes a bit of sense, after Aerosmith went exclusive with GH, the song "The Train Kept a Rollin" may not be available for RB 2 download pending what the agreements between Aerosmith / GH / RB are.

For those interested in seeing what the stock drum set will look like and how it will function.

One noted difference is it looks like the pads have also changed since the photo above.

They are. I guess so that the old versions work, you will get to use either one to register a hit. However, the sound that comes out of the game will be different. So for instance if you hit the blue drum pad you will hear a drum sound. If you hit the blue symbol you will here a symbol sound.

Just found out that the cymbals are only going to cost $30.00 for all 3. Sounds very reasonable to me.

The newest Rock Band (2) and Guitar Hero (4) don't come out until September and November respectfully.

After seeing all this, I've decided to place the pre-order for the ION Drum Set. The double bass drum petals and the fact you can hook it into a drum brain and turn it into a real drum set sold me.

Since my instruments will work with both GHWT and RB2, I'll pick up both. But right now, in a head to head fight, RB will still probably win.

I don't know if I am going there but I will pick up the new kit either way. I am really curious about the double bass pedal port on the new stock kit. I wonder how this will work.

Also, check this out. Because Harmonix is encouraging 3rd party accessories for Rock Band 2, it looks like they are trying to innovate. Check out these portable drums. They are suppose to work on any surface so you can take them with you.

Here is the new MIC with buttons this time. Woohoo!!!!!

I haven't seen this mentioned, so the game releases September 15th on the Xbox 360. Lesser consoles have to wait until October.

Having all of these 3rd party instrument options is nice and all, but unfortunately most appear to be made by MadCatz, the worst peripheral manufacturer known to man.

Huge difference. These are officially licensed products that Harmonix supposedly developed and MadCatz is only the manufacturer. There is no way Harmonix didn't set quality standards with the cymbals and stuff like that. Also, the Mic is suppose to be studio quality as well.....I guess we will have to wait and see.

Having said that I don't hold out much hope for the portable drum kit. Usually stuff like this is more gimicky no matter who makes it. I just thought the concept was cool.
