Jedi Knight II
Hey, to those that were posting about it...do you guys play this game online a lot? Like Multiplayer?
I am bidding on a used copy of the game on Ebay...I'd like to play it sometime.
I probably need to get a gamepad...any ideas on that?
Mike

I've beaten the single-player version of the game. Highly recommended if you can get it for cheap.

I just started playing the single player part of it a couple weeks ago, its a lot of fun though. I haven't played anything multiplayer over the net in a long time, but I would definitely try it out. Last game I was playing online was Day of Defeat for Half Life, and Unreal Tournament (the orig one) over a LAN here at work afterhours.
I played "Dark Forces" (the first one, which is basically the precursor to Jedi Knight) back in college the week before spring finals freshman year. Didn't do almost anything else that entire week. Wow that was stupid. I am amazed I passed my tests. I liked that game a lot, so when I saw Jedi Knight I picked it up to give it a shot. Its a ton of fun.

But is it easier to play if you have a good game controller, not just the keyboard?

I happen to like playing with keyboard and mouse, but controller would work just as well.

I use the Microsoft Sidewinder for the game, and sometimes use the mouse to look around. Multiplayer is awesome in the game. Definitely check out jediknightii.net, jk2files.com, and pcgamemods.com
The game is completely mod-able, and the mods that are out there make the game 100x better than before.
The sequel, Jedi Academy is due out this fall and it looks absolutely stunning.

Keyboard and mouse are the best way to play FPS games IMO.
Jedi Knight II is very cool I have had this game for a while. You can play arena / deathmatch as a single player. The game will create players in the multiplayer mode.

Why is it better to use the mouse/keyboard? Just wondering.

On the keyboard, all you use is the up and down arrows, everything else is used by the mouse. Most FPS are like that--and IMO it's better for movement purposes. There is a lack of button options, obviously, but for movement it's much better instead of strafing with a joystick. Plus, it allows for looking around as well.

I found game pads are great for sports or action games like Madden or Tomb Raider. For FPS like Quake, Half Life, Jedi Knight there are not enough buttons for the weapons etc. and moving/looking at the same time is very difficult with a game pad. I use the arrow keys for front and back and slilde left and right then the mouse for free look and mouse buttons for shooting.
Jedi Knight has more selections than a standard FPS because there are weapons and force powers to select and switch between.
Whatever works for you is the bottom line. I have spent quite a bit of time setting the controls so I can play with out looking at the controls in JK, JK:MOTS, and JKII. I can be fun to try the levels with out using a gun at all. Nothing but the force and a light saber!

I have Jedi Knight 1, and the Sith mission pack for it, but I lost the first disk, so it won't let me play it. Haven't been able to find a crack to let me play without the disk.
