Rock band would have been perfect if you could do the tour mode online. Guitar Hero needs this too.

Its four pages long, so I'm just going to post the biggest highlights.
Quote:
The Guitar

The biggest addition to the new guitar is the touch pad located on the neck. While playing a song, this touch sensitive strip allows you to alter notes during sustains by sliding up and down the strip (giving more freedom and options than what you had before with just a whammy bar). It can also be used for tapping to play notes, particularly awesome if you want to mimic a slap bass. The real power of the touch pad comes in the music creator. We'll get to that soon.

Other changes have been made to the design as well. The back/select button has been made to look like the bridge of the guitar. It's easier to hit for activating star power and gives a more realistic look to the body. The entire body is bigger, as well, approaching something closer to a real guitar. The d-pad has been given a bit of style as well by reshaping it to look more like a knob.

All of the previous great features are still there on this guitar, too. It's wireless and sleek, has an accelerometer for activating star power (and more) and will make use of new custom faceplates. In short, it's the best guitar controller we've seen yet.

...

Guitar Hero: World Tour brings five careers with it. There's one each for the four instruments (guitar, bass, drums, and vocals) as well as an online or off band career.
Other notes:

Drum set is wireless and quieter than the RB one. It is also pressure sensitive so hitting it harder gets a louder note. GH4 has a Tiger Woods like character creator, as well as a creation tool for customizing your on screen equipment. Boss battles have been altered so that they are more like a "call and response" type of thing. There are over 85 songs included on the disk, all of which are master tracks. Perhaps the biggest news is the music creator, which is said to be easy to pick up yet incredibly deep. Users can store 100 of their own songs, upload up to 5 at a time onto the community area, and download up to 200 from said area. However, you can't add vocal tracks due to legal reasons. I'm probably not doing the article justice, there's a lot to sum up.

Sounds like some very cool upgrades to the music game. I can't wait to see what Harmonix as up their sleeve to counter this. Music games are going to be insane over the next few years.

GH4 has none other than Jimi Hendrix as a playable character along with two songs (The Wind Cries Mary and a live version of Purple Haze) plus more to come as DLC. No word yet on whether or not you'll have to play the solos with your teeth.

Above list has been shot down.

"Activision and Red Octane have made it known that the list, which included artists like Tool and The Doors, is a fake. A representative informed Game Informer ... while some of the songs on the list will make it into the game, namely Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher," the majority of the list is 'wishful thinking and pure speculation'."

Figured. If there are 3 artists I'd never expect to see on these games it would be the Beatles, Elvis, and MJ. This saddens me.
