bought a PS2, recommend me some games
I'm pretty fed up with the Xbox right now. There's no new games coming out for it that I like. Along with that, I'm not into the 360 at all, because there's no games for it yet that I'm frothing to get at.
So, I knew there were a few games on the PS2 I'd enjoy, so I went out and bought one. First off, I can't believe how small the thing is! It's no bigger than a PC disc drive! Every screenshot I'd ever seen of the PS2 has looked bad in comparison to Xbox or GC screens, so I was expecting poor graphics. I feel mildly surprised, as the games actually have a pretty sleek look to them, and the graphics on some games rival the other consoles.
The games I bought with it:
- God of War - awesome game, the closest to Ninja Gaiden I've seen yet
- Katamari Damaci - yeah laugh, it's the reason I bought the system. This game is really, really fun
- Devil May Cry 3 - looks good so far, a little over-the-top with the angst attitude, but the action is pretty good so far.
- Soul Calibur 3 - I've always loved this series, and this game does not disapoint.
I've also ordered Ace Combat 5.
So tell me, what games do you guys recommend for the PS2? I already have the GTA games on the Xbox, so I won't need those, and I already have enough sports games. So, what else do you guys play?

You do know that Elder Scrolls: Oblivion comes out Tuesday correct? It is the reason that I made an eBay plunge for a 360.

Is that an RTS game? Honestly, RTS games and RPGs aren't really my thing. I downloaded the demo for the new star wars RTS PC game, and it's as boring as starcraft was IMO. I generally play consoles for sports games, action games, and adventure games. The only RPGs I've really been into are the KOTOR games and Jade Empire.
I'm probably going to buy an X360 when Ninja Gaiden 2 comes out for it. I'm hoping it's cross-platform b/c the PS3 looks like a better system than the 360, but I just know team Ninja is going to want to release that for the 360 as an exclusive.

It is a very immerse RPG. Think Fable x50 in terms of what you can do, and the amount of time that you could finish. They state that the game may take 200-300 hours to finish!

Resident Evil 4 - best of the series bar none
Shadow of the Colossus - very unique game, but very well done
Jak 2 and/or 3 - 2 is slightly better
Any of the Ratchet and Clank games
Metal Gear Solid 2
Tekken 5
Guitar Hero - one of the most addictive games ever created
Most of these are greatest hits and can be found for $20.

Actually Team Ninja has hinted that the next installment may be cross platform. Makes sense considering they make more money that way

Check out "Gun" it's a good game. Right now I'm plaing "Marc Ecko's Getting up: Contents under Pressure" I've heard some bad reviews about it, but I'm actually kinda getting into it. Oh yea, and of course Madden.

I recommend the Sly Cooper trilogy. The first one is pretty fun, and the second and third ones blow it away. The first and second are on the "Greatest Hits" thingy, so I think that means they're $20 each.
Also, if you haven't played them yet, the Prince of Persia trilogy (consisting of The Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones) is quite good. However, these games are also available on the Xbox, so you'd probably get better graphics with those. Also, you get the original two Prince of Persia games for free with The Sands of Time game (I'm not sure if these games are included with the PS2 version).

Katamari Damacy f****** rocks
I can't believe I'm so addicted to a kids game. I loved it so much, I went out and bought the sequel "We Love Katamari". Both are great games and an absolute blast to play.
I also picked up the newer Logitech wireless unit for the PS2. This one:
http://www.gameexpress.com/images/pr...855020932F.JPG
The thing is freaking awesome. It's the best controller I've ever used and puts the Sony DualShock to shame. I'm probably going to buy Logitech's wireless controller for the Xbox as well, I just love the feel of this thing, and being cordless is a great plus in a living room.
Quick hits on the games I've bought/rented for the PS2 so far:
Katamari Damacy: wonderful game, totally addictive and the Engrish is histerical. A little short of a campaign, but a lot of replay value even after you've beaten the game.
My rating: 9 out of 10, with the short campaign the only thing holding it back.
We love Katamari: See above, made a little more 'kiddie' but still the same basic concept.
My rating: 8 out of 10, no topping the originality of the first game.
God of War: Fantastic action game, maybe the best I've played since Ninja Gaiden (Xbox). I just heard they're gonna debut God of War II at E3 next month.
My rating: 9 out of 10, Some wall moves (think Ninja Gaiden) and less repetitive action would have made this a 10. Otherwise, awesome game.
Gran Turismo 4: Lots of fun, incredibly deep game, great graphics for the PS2. I love this game, but it's going to take me awhile to really get into it only because I am pretty busy and this is a deep game I want to spend a lot of time on in the next few months.
So far, 9 out of 10, a few more extreme high-end cars and a few less Ford F-150 types and I'd be a lot happier with it, but I'm definitely not knocking it, there's 240 cars in the game!
Ace Combat 5: fun game, not incredibly realistic, but a good merger of realism and arcade action. This is the most fun flight sim I've played in a long time. I highly recommend it, and I also think it has some of the best graphics I've seen in a console flight sim.
My rating: 7 out of 10, being able to save after each mission would've been nice, I've had to repeat several missions because of how the save menu works.
Ultimate Spider-Man: Ok game, I've played the last two Spider-man games for the PS2, and the controls and action are better in this game than either of those two. However, the graphics really peaked with the Spider-man 2 game, and the cell-shaded version here just doesn't do it for me. As with the other spider-man games, this one's just too repetitive.
My rating: 6 out of 10
Devil May Cry 3: The concept is good, but so far the game's uber-button mashing. I haven't played it enough to really rate it.
The Warriors: Rockstar's latest in an attempt to further piss off the Tipper Gores of America My wife has been playing this game every night for about 3 or 4 days right now. I tried it a little, and I really dig the action, foulmouth characters, and absolute blood & violence. Fun game, think of it as Grand Theft Auto, without driving a car and more of an emphasis on brawling.
My rating: 7 out of 10, a few more variating fights, better graphics, and less 'tagging' would've made it perfect.

Holy Carp , I just got Oblivion for the 360 and the graphics in that game are unreal looking. The game plays more like a PC game than a console game . I think I will be very happy with this purchase. Gears of War looks like it is going to be an awesome game too when it comes out .
Bye the way I hear that Resident Evil 4 is very good on PS2.
I just got done playing Champions of Norath and if you are into that kind of game it is very good also .
