ESPN harsh on the Diamondbacks

Watching the replays of the horrible base running on ESPN, the announcer said the Diamondbacks were playing like they did not want to win.

Eddie Rodriguez is doing a horrible job as 3B coach. If we can see his inexperience during games, what do the players see when he is supposed to be training them behind the scenes?

In today's finale against the Rockies, he made two more bad judgement calls.

On the first, Counsell was out by a mile. On the second, Bautista would have been nailed by a decent throw. The fact that Walker's throw was up the line doesn't change the decision, with less than two outs.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although Danny Bautista is one of my favorite players on the D'backs, he should be fined heavily for disregarding ERod's decision, and heading back for 3B, as Gonzo was on his way from 2B. When the coach tells you to go, you go!

It shows how little respect the players have for him!

We are very weak in the positions of 3B coach and Batting Instructor. I would like to see the D'backs reassign Dwayne Murphy and sign former Major Leaguer Lou Klimchock as 3B/Batting Coach.

Having worked with Lou two years ago, and learning his background, I know that he is a professional Batting Coach, who could help this team!

They certainly are playing like they forgot how to win. I sure hope they can somehow kickstart and play like the pros they are in LA. Maybe they need to go back to cheeseburgers, tequila, and beer - to heck with all the healthful greenery-eating and Pilates stuff.

We went 3-6 the first nine games of 2001 (looked it up) and that wasn't a bad year, all in all. But if they continue to play this grossly over the LA series, given that the Dodgers have now been proven totally mortal, major depression (or a major group drunk) may be the only logical fan reaction.

Does anybody else wish Brenly et al would stop using the term "Aggressiveness" which apparently translates to carelessness? Can we try conservative baseball for a few games, perhaps?
It seems that this vague notion of "Angels-style baseball" sucks, and the DBacks can't pull it off - Let's play "smart" ball, not "aggressive" ball. And can they switch ERod and Yount for awhile and see if that helps?

E-Rod seems to get so caught up in the moment of "wishing" the D'backs to score that he totally disrards the situational aspects (who's running, who's fielding, the number of outs, the coming batter, etc.) that he nearly automatically does the windmill routine. Right after CC was thrown out, you could tell that he almost went into that automatic mode on the next play as well...before holding up... In the long run, we might have been better off had he sent him as well--had the second consecutive runner been thrown out at the plate, BB would have an even more difficult time "forgiving" E-Rod for his "sins" again.

Yount should be coaching third, and the D'backs need to start playing real baseball. The first week has been too surreal!
