The Best Music Producers Ever?
Who to you are/were the best music producers ever? I consider
George Martin, Dave Jerden, Kit Lambert, Butch Vig, and Phil Spector to me are among the best ever in the business.....Who to you is worthy of recognition as the best music producer?

Black Crowes too.
I suppose alot of people think Mutt Lang is a pretty solid one too.

In my opinion, Rick Rubin ruined both the RHCP and The Cult. Sure, its hard to argue from a popularity and records sold standpoint, and he certainly can be considered a shrewd businessman in taking bands and making them superstars, but that doesnt mean he made them better. He made them more commercially viable. A perfect example is the Cult "Electric" Fantastic, regular guy party rock and roll album. But if you listen to the "Manor Sessions, " the original recordings of "Electric" songs, they are SO much more sophisticated, moody, and awash in fantastic texture. Rubin took those songs, stripped them down, dumbed them down, in my opinion, and the rest is history. Rubin is responsible for convincing Anthony Keidis he could actually sing. HA!
