Just bought them from Zia, and was happy as hell to see they have a metal only section!
bought
Opeth - Blackwater Park
7.5/10 in my eyes.
Really good, strong CD. Long songs, with only 8 tracks. Each track is of great quality, my only complaint is that it seems to...quiet compared to other Opeth. I still love the CD, but I still place Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir and Dark Tranquility high above these guys.

Opeth - Blackwater Park
10/10
****ing phenomenal CD!!!! Great musicianship. Beautiful acoustic passages. Dark, brroding heaviness. There's a certain "longing" feel about the album, a despair. Side note: They recorded the CD live in one setting....

Opeth is a great band. I don't have any comments on this specific CD, but I do love when they extend the classical guitar parts of their songs. When their singer sings cleanly I really enjoy their music. I'm totally not into death/doom metal, so when the singer goes heavy I really don't like the sound.
It's the same way for me with Amorphis and Soilwork. Great bands, but I really don't dig the intense, non-melodic screaming. When those singers do sing, however, the music is fantastic.

Amorphis. Tales Of A Thousand Lakes is a CD I hae owned since 1995, and it is phenomenal. I also puchased the predecessor to TOATL, The Karelian Isthmus and I liked that one a lot. I have not gotten anything beyond TOATL, so can you recommend anything later by them?
Soilwork. The Chainheart Machine got me into these guys back in 99. TCM is awesome. I also own Steelbath Suicide and A Predator's Portrait, but TCM kills em all....
The new goods out there are Lamb Of God, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, God Forbid, Avenged Sevenfold, and the new Megadeth....

Yup, all good cd's, haven't checked otu the New Megadeth or Avenged Sevenfold yet.
But Lamb of God's "As the Palaces Burn", Shadows Fall "Art of Balance (newest one i know of anyways)" is good, Killswitch Engage's "The End of Heartache is an awesome cd, but I still prefer Jesse over Howie. and the New God Forbid, blows their "Determination" cd away.

I was told months ago that Mustaine got cancer and was calling it quits. I guess that's not true? Who's it that band now? Dave goes through musicians like I go through white underwear.
