I know this is an unpopular choice, but any GWAR fans?
Regardless of what ANYONE THINKS, I believe GWAR is one of the best bands ever! I get into their sound, and their live shows are second to none. Been around since 1988, and grew up listening to the band. Don't let the costumes pull you away from their musical talent (which seems to be common with peoples thoughts today, costumes = no talent).
If you wanna check them out, find them at www.gwar.net , this band is not for the faint of heart.
GWARriors unite!

I've seen Gwar a bunch of times and the only draw back is that they tour with the worst metal bands. The exceptions were when they played with God Forbid and with the Misfits. I took my little brother to see them when he was 15 or 16 and he lost his glasses in the pit. My mom was mad at me about that so I didn't mention that after the show I brought him to a sorority house and then a party on the UCF campus.
I'm a big Gwar fan but I like them as the X-cops better.

You'll be missed.
I remember seeing them with God Forbid and Goatwhore a few years back.
God Forbid kicked ass, I love that band now. Goatwhore I could care less about.

btw, I think all their side bands are awesome. You should check out the Dave Brockie Experience "Songs for the Wrong" CD. Good music there. I also like them as the Hellions and Death Piggy. X-Cops is great too. But above all, I'm still fond of GWAR as being my favorite band there.
GOOD to see some more GWAR fans. They are few and far between (or so it seems).

I dunno, but I do know Mike Patton sang for Mr Bungle and Faith No More. I really loved Faith No More. I caught them on their last tour, the "Album of the Year" tour. Man what a great show. Funny thing was there was this crappy band that sounded like a bastard child of Suicidal Tendencies that opened for them.
Turns up it was Limp Bizkit. Small world.
As for Mike Patton, he had an amazing voice, yet one that was hard to take seriously over heavy guitars. I'm a big FNM fan. My girlfriend is a big Marilyn Manson fan, and when his song "Be Obscene" came out last year, I had to give her crap about it... because he stole it from Faith No More. On the Angel Dust album they had a song called "Be Aggressive" which was basically the same damn song, only 10 years earlier. MM skirts the issue too whenever he's asked about it. I saw him get asked about it on Uranium (julia...mmmmmm....) one time, and he just started talking about something else.
As for GWAR, I have the old Beavis & Butthead virtual stupidity computer game, and it has an abbreviated GWAR video on it I vaguely remember them appearing on the Jerry Springer show one time too, and they fed Jerry to their big snake-dragon-demon thing on stage. Great stuff!!

Patton started out in FNM, I believe. Since then he's been in a bunch of other bands like Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantômas, and a couple of other bands whose names escape me at the moment.

Mike was in Bungle, then got the FNM gig. Remember, he was their second singer. Bungle's guitarist eventually joined FNM. Bungle got their record deal because Patton was in FNM. Bungle was a great band, they played everything perfect in concert also. Fantomas are a great band...maybe they'll be my album of the week pick!
I can't remember who the Dream Theatre fan is on this board, but the musicianship on Disco Volante is amazing. Their first album is great, but at times a little too ska oriented, but on Disco Volante and California they just go nuts!
I read an interview and Patton said Bungle is over. I was sad to hear this. Fantomas are good, but they aren't Bungle. Tomahawk is too main stream to put in the same sentence as Patton's other bands.

I never understood the attraction of a mosh pit. Then when I seen a MTV special about it, where people become disfigured and totatly F'ed up in them, I think it's senseless.
I love really got into Gwar or many other bands from the
"Hair Band" Heavy metal era.....
As far as Faith No More though, they definitely are awesome...
They seldom receive any recognition, but they had to be definitely a heavy influence of Alice-in-Chains and other Grunge bands....
"The Real Thing" had to rank w/in the top-5 albums of the late
80s, of course nothing can match "Epic" and I love their remake of
"War Pigs".....
And noone should forget to mention Mike Bordin, who is probably one of the best drummers out there...I also love his work on
Jerry Cantrell's last solo album "Degradation Trip"....
Gwar Hate Poseur Clown Bands

"It's the perfect time to be Gwar," says vocalist Oderous Urungus after giving this Chart hack a ritual chewing-out for being yet another stupid human. "We're leaner, we're meaner, we're heavier, we're just as ****ed up and funny — the gore effects are WAY sicker."
Know what the scary part is? He's right. High on the success of their latest album War Party, Gwar are doing better than ever. They're finally receiving recognition for their efforts as entertainers and musicians, they're featured as the coveted "halftime entertainment" on this summer's Sounds Of The Underground Tour metal festival and, most importantly, they're actually writing good records again. Maybe they're going to stand the test of time.
"What the **** did you expect?" challenges Urungus. "There are scary clown bands everywhere that seem to be dying out now and Gwar is as mighty as ever. We withstood the assault of the poseur clown bands and we're accepted as the sickest, most underground, coolest thing in rock 'n' roll today and it's because we're the voice of reason."
Gwar as the voice of reason? What the hell is he — it — talking about?
"Hey, in a world gone mad, Gwar seems a lot more reasonable to me than anything I've seen on CNN," he sneers. "People are afraid of everything. 'Don't criticize the county; support the church,' it's American tradition to be able to dissent and this is the way we do it. We're not gonna go stage some goofy protest, pour crazy glue in office building locks or do some hack McDonalds trashing. We're gonna hold a sword to the throat of anyone we feel is ****ing up. That includes people who attack the right. The media is the chopping block and Gwar is the axe."
Speaking of axes, Urungus has one to grind with the naysayers who still chalk Gwar up as nothing more than a shtick band who rely on papier-mache swords and rubber masks to cover up their limited ability.
"[The stage show] doesn't mean we can't play our instruments any less," he says. "We're better at it. You try to play with a ****in' dinosaur chewin' on your head. I'll still kick your ass. People who are sticking to that completely predictable line of criticism are making fools of themselves. It's so unfounded that it makes them look stupid.
"We think Gwar is the most important band in history. We're entertainment legends. In time, when bands have come and gone a thousand times and Gwar is slaughtering on a worldwide basis with five different Gwars playing around the world at any given time and a giant Gwar casino in Las Vegas, they'll realize."
