Country music fans?
I was curious if there are any country music fans in here, I was raised up in the Ozarks of Missouri so the music came as a natural to me. We could pick up the firday & saturday Grand ole opry out of Nashville. Who was your favorite of old, and now? My Favortie of old is Merle Haggard, my new is George Strait. OCF

I think we are a rare breed on this board OCF! I grew up in New River (North of Phx) before Anthem. Everyone I knew either listened to hard rock or country or a mix of the two. I've listened to country as long as I can remember! My fav old is Patsy Cline. I remember listening to old Patsy Cline records for hours on end! Now I've upgraded those records to cd's. When it comes to new, I have quite a few favs. Of course George Strait! Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Trace Adkins, and of course, Reba. Some of the much newer artists, I've been enjoying. Big & Rich's cd is just hillarious! Their style is so different, but yet I like it! Gretchen Wilson is good. I also like Josh Gracin. I just wish that he would release another song from his cd. I Want To Live is getting old, and there are many GREAT songs on his cd!!!! ~CpnQn~

I was raised on country music. Hell, I even roped when I was little.
I like Toby, Garth, Lonestar, George, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Tim Mcgraw, Faith, Reba, and Clay Walker.
Big and Rich are good--save a horse and ride a cowboy.

I too was raised listening to country music. I don't really like the new stuff, probably cause I don't follow it. Marty Stuart, Dwight Yoakam, Sammy Kershaw, Gary Allen, Brooks and Dunn, Vern Gosdin, George Jones, Don Williams, and Keith Whitley are some of the guys I like.

I must admit that Country isnt one of my favorite genres, however, I've always loved listening Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels (enjoyed the whole "Urban Cowboy" soundtrack), Hank Williams Sr/Jr, Patsy Cline, and Waylon Jennings.....
In recent years...Steve Earle and Garth Brooks.....
Who could possibly forget the earlier pioneers/influences of "rock-n-roll"...IE Carl Perkins...

I'm kinda in the same boat. I had Garth Brooks rammed down my throat on a road trip once, and since then I've grown to like him and another group called Blackhawk. I really like how Blackhawk does not use any steel lap guitars.

I'll let you know, someday. I have quite awhile till I will consider myself "getting old". (I'm only 27 and I don't even consider my parents old yet!)

My mom listened to country, and I dare not try to change the channel on her car radio. I dont like country, although it doesnt bother me. Every song just seems the same. A dog, a truck, beer, a woman. Im more political with hip-hop. Now I know youll say rap is all about jewelry and sex. But im 29, and when I first started listening to it rappers talk about politics and such. the radio is just BS. You can still find the hip-hop I like in the underground (not on the radio).

Yeah, as a kid I was VERY sheltered. My mom thought that all modern music was "evil" so I could only listen to old records that were in the house. Which, looking back, wasn't all bad! I learned to enjoy some good ol' music!!!!!
