I'm obsessed with music and am shocked that there isn't a forum on here dedicated to this subject.... I guess it's because it doesn't generate much discussion/debate on here....
Anyways, what genres of music does everyone on here listen to and who are your favorite bands of all-time and at the moment?
I listen to everything, but Hardcore Rap, Boy-Bands, and Country...
Favorite all-time bands are The Beatles, The Who, Cream,
Alice-in-Chains, The Yardbirds, Soundgarden, STP, Led Zeppelin, The Clash, and Red Hot Chili Peppers...etc......I could go on and on....
Bands at the moment..... Gomez, Audio Vent, Snot, The Strokes, Loudermilk, Fear Factory, The Roots...etc....
Okay, I could go on and on..... Now it's your turn.....

Caesers - 39 Minutes of Bliss (In an otherwise meaningless World) Awesome. go get it. A mix of old and new, 60s garage, brit pop, punk. A tad derivative, but really really fun.
Kings of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood. 3 brothers and a cousin grow up in the backwoods of Kentucky, form a band and play kickass backwoods 70's rock and roll. How can you go wrong?
Mando Diao - Bring em in. More of the retro-centric 60's sound. A trend that seems to be holding water. This one is good, and there are excellent pieces to every song and a handful of songs that succeed overall. But there is also some throwaway stuff here. Its cheap and worth checking out.
Other bands I cant get enough of right now.
The D4
The Datsuns
The Electric Six
The 45s
Bad Wizard
The Neptunes
Outkast (still!)
Nappy Roots
The Briefs
The Mooney Suzuki
White Stripes
I definately still love obscure and independent music. I listen to everything except new school R-n-B, new school country, and boy band/diva crap. My heart lies with new wave/electronica, punk rock, hip hop, and for some reason lately, classic 70's muscle car cock rock. Rick Derringer, Molly Hatchet, Nazareth and stuff like that.
I dont get to listen to music as much as I used to, but still try and find the myriad of great bands out there, not on a major label, struggling to make it.
most platinum bands these days, the crappy ass Yo! Metal bands like Linkin Park and the syrupy sweet vocal masturbatory pop sh*t like Aguilera, britney, and others is gutless souless nonsense. Hate it. But Ive always kind of strayed from the mainstream. I'm surprised to see Loudermilk on your list. I saw them live and thought they absolutely sucked. I couldnt WAIT for them to get the hell off the stage.

Music is my #1 passion. I've been playing guitar for about 5 years now and I've played drums for about 15 (don't feel like doing the math, 25 now started in 2nd grade.)
I listen mostly to punk, ska and hardcore but I'll listen to pretty much everything but country, techno and R & B.
All time favorite bands: Operation Ivy/Rancid, Bigwig, the Clash, Vandals, Strung Out, Less Than Jake, Minor Threat, Bad Religion, Blitz, Suicide Machines. Vindictives, Sloppy Seconds
Bands right now: Raised Fist, Authority Zero, Bowling for Soup, Guttermouth, L. E. S. Stitches, One Man Army

You'll be missed.
elindholm is either a professor or just a teacher in college of music. Not sure what exactly. Too bad he never checks into the other boards on the site.

I would toss a few rap acts in there as well, (obviously) Biggie and Pac, Tribe Called Quest, DMX, Public Enemy and Boogie Down Productions. I would ad a few more punk acts like NOFX, Lagwagon, Pennywise, I was also a pretty big fan of Bracket, even though they were a bit "wierd."

just got the new outkast double CD and cannot get enough of it. outkast continually brings a new sound on every cd they come out with. atliens is probably my favorite, Speakerbox and the Love Below, follow right behind aquemini and ahead of stankonia on my list of favorite outkast records.
