"All-Star Jam Band" Thread?
I tried this previously on another message board awhile back, which is everyone to assemble an "All-Star Jam Band" of who they consider to be the best or their favorite performers on every instrument of your choosing....
It could be just of one decade or even one of "all-time"....
This is just for example..... Let's say.... 1970s....
Singer-Roger Daultrey
Lead Guitarist-Jimmy Paige
Bass-Chris Squire
Drummer-Keith Moon
Keyboardist-Rick Wakeman
This is just the sake of an example......Now, it's your turn....

There was a touring version of the Yardbirds with Jimmy Page on bass and Jeff Beck on guitar

Jimmy Page actually played some bass on The Yardbird's album "Roger The Engineer" while Jeff Beck was still on lead....
The one song Im certain he played bass on was "Psycho Daisies".....The other song both Page and Beck performed on was "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago", but I believe Page only played lead-guitar on that song.....

I thought it was John Entwhistle who said that...
My Dream Team would be:
Drums: Neil Pert
Bass: Geddy Lee (also songwriter)
Rhythm Guitar: Malcolm Young
Lead Guitar: Eddie Van Halen
Vocals: Bruce Willis

Anyone ever hear the live concert in early '68 (I believe in New
York City) just before the "old" Yardbirds broke-up?
That was during the time when Jimmy Page began to use the bow live on stage and they did an excellent performance of
"Dazed and Confused" even with Keith Relf on vocals (nothing against him, but no one could counter Plant on that song).....
They once had that concert on Led-Zeppelins official website (this was 3-yrs ago), but havent checked it in quite some time.....

The first concert I ever saw was the Yardbirds, their hit at the time was Heart full of Soul, around 1966, I was in the seventh grade.
Jeff Beck had a profound affect on me, I couldn't believe a person could do those things with and get those sounds from a guitar.
To this day Jeff Beck is still my favorite guitar player.

Wow, I'm definitely jealous....I would have loved to see the
Yardbirds and other bands from that time during their "hey-day"...
I wonder if that was after The Yardbirds released "Roger The Engineer"?
Yeah, Jeff Beck has always been extremely under-rated....I also love listening to the Jeff Beck Group....Love their rendition of "Shapes of Things"....That's when Rod Stewart actually "rocked".....
What other concerts did you attend?

It was before Rorer The Engineer (Over, Under, Sideways, Down).
I saw Jimi Hendrix open for Soft Machine, after he got kicked off the Monkees tour,
I saw The Who open for Hermans Hermits, very bizarre. That was the night Keith Moon drove the cadillac into the pool in Fliint Michigan.
I was very fortunate to see a lot of acts back in the day.

That's right...I forgot that "Roger In The Engineer" was released after Jeff Beck had already left the group...
I love Beck's solos on "Over, Under, Sideways", "Heart Full of Soul", "Evil Hearted You", and of course the best of all was in "Shapes of Things"... Just that "raga" style "rave-up" solos were ahead of its time for sure.....
To see Hendrix and The Who....Wow....Did you ever see the Who again? I would have loved to have seen them while they were touring in support of both "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia"......

Since I'm bored at the moment, I've decided to revive this thread, but figured that I should also begin a series of polls regarding who you consider to be the best at each and every instrument.... I'll begin today with who you consider to be the best all-time drummers.....
At the end, this will be "ASFN's official All-Star Jam Band"
Link for drummers poll.....
