Album-a-Day #8: !Americano!

The quintessential "Arizona" album... A mesmerizing blend of rock and south-of-the-border country that is just terrific.

For those that do not know, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers have been around for quite awhile. For history's sake, Roger Clyne and his drummer PH Naffah were both in the popular band The Refreshments back in the 90s.

Think Tom Petty, but more rockin'! The music on here is brilliant--from smooth ballads to toe-tapping lounge-the-day away tunes.

Also, this band is the best live band I've ever seen, just be prepared to drink a lot of tequila!

This album took me a few listens to really get into, but I'm a HUGE RCPM fan.

Some of the songs are just okay. The song "God Gave Me A Gun" reminds me too much of the "Kids in the Hall" theme for me to take seriously.

But I love "Counterclockwise," "Lighten My Load," and "Leaky Little Boat." I like the album, but I thought Sonoran Hope and Madness was better.

...once again, one of my planned albums is off the board!

I just picked this up a little while back. It's my first foray into Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers and I love the album (even if now I'm not going to be able to quit thinking of the Kids in the Hall theme when I hear "God Gave me a Gun") Personal favorite track is "Your Name on a Grain of Rice".
