I've been a major fan of Aerosmith for practically my entire life and definitely wanted to "review"/"discuss" any album of theirs. It was definitely a complex choice since they've released several over the past 30+ (30+?) since they debuted w/"Aerosmith"..... "Toys In The Attic" ranks along w/"Pump", Permanent Vacation", and "Get A Grip" as my faves......
It's amazing the longevity of Aerosmith, how they've had pretty much the original line-up intact all throughout (except for '82's Rock In The Hard Place) and have constantly released so many timely hits. Certainly their more recent material doesn't completely equalize the better efforts, but it's still above average compared to many bands in the present era of music.
The obvious "stand-outs" of "Toys In The Attic" are "Walk This Way", "No More, No More", and to me the song that ranks among their top-5 of all time, which is "Sweet Emotion".....That beginning is very captivating and doesnt lose any steam during the song...
Should Aerosmith stop releasing albums because they're somewhat a "
caricature" of their former selves.... It's difficult to say since they havent matched their earlier successes, but if they continue to play their "classics" in concert, then it's certainly worth it....
