So basically he's just fishing for compliments?

"I'm not wise."

"No, really Socrates, you are wise. Any girl would be lucky to be with a guy as wise as you."

Those ancient people were weird.

Socrates (pronounced So-crates) was cool in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

If he wanted to get chicks, he could just show them that movie.

I've just finished the Left Behind series with Glorious Appearing. They've even made a military and political series! The military all has Apocalypse in it's title. I can't wait to start them, if they ever get to the Tempe Public Library!

I'm reading Strega by Andrew Vachss.

Good hard-boiled stuff. As close as any contemporary writer has gotten to Jim Thompson, IMO.

It's definately a good read!

And the best part is that it never ends!

Its like...

the song that never ends
it keeps on going on my friends
some people, started singing it not knowing what it was,
but they'll continue singing it forever just because,

it is the song that never ends

My current nonfiction book is Samuel Huntington's The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order. It's fascinating - was published in 1998 and you can see how correct he was already.

My current fiction book is War and Peace...finally getting to that one. Looks like it may take a while, but should be worth it.

I'm reading The Conan Chronicles by Robert Jordan. Pretty good, but not nearly as good as his Wheel of Time series.

"They Shoot Horses, Dont They" by Horrace McCoy

Another 1930 noir book. This one's weird, so far most of it takes place during a marathon dance competition. Well written, though.

I bought it used for $.01 +shipping from amazon based on a reader's suggested list of "noir authors you've never heard of, but should."
