Tons of free audio books
Can download them right into itunes free of charge. A whole bunch of old classics. Enjoy!

Books should be free? What the what? If books were free, who would write them?

I agree, great choice.
Now play them the music from "Big River", words and music by the one and only, late, great Roger Miller. If you aren't familiar with it, it's based on Huck Finn. One of my favorites. Warning: I don't know how old your boys are but Pap uses some strong language when expressing his disgust over the U.S. tax system.

I tend to listen to a lot of audio books and podcasts, but these are hard to listen to. The "talent" reading the books are not good, some are downright shrill.

Oh, no worries. I certainly didn't mean to direct that at you.
There may be some good ones...but I haven't found them. I think they get volunteer readers. Maybe it's because I listen to so many that I have a hard time with it. I sometimes choose fiction by the reader (dick hill..i know, unfortunate name...is my favorite).
Also, Malcolm Gladwell, the author of Blink and the Tipping Point, is down right hypnotic, IMO.
