The Half Blood Prince

24 hours and 652 pages later I am finished reading it.

The book is easily her best written work. There is a flow to the story unlike any of the other books.

The book is definitely written more with teens and adults in mind. Much of the essence of childhood that Rowling captured in her first books is gone. It has been replaced by a more archtypical tale of youth assuming the mantle of adulthood.

*******************SPOILERS*********************** ****

The rumors are true and a major character does indeed die. Halfway through the book, I had a pretty good idea who it would be. How it happened though, I would never have guessed.

Dude Chris....how about some freaking spoiler warning about that????

I should have stopped reading your post when you said you already finished the book.

I'm about 4 chapters in...

EDIT. I went ahead and edited your post...for anyone else who might come and read it...

Oh I didn't think it was a spoiler since Rowling made an announcement about it months ago and it was well reported sorry.

I didn't think she made an announcement...I'm sorry then for getting upset.

I just heard a ton of rumors about many things, that one included, but to have them confirmed just threw me for a loop.

It's all good...

Just finished reading it myself - great book, couldn't put it down. 100 times better than book 5.

And yes, I was anticipating, but still shocked at the ending.

I think we need a thread, clearly marked, for those that have finished reading to discuss - I am itching to discuss this book with someone!!

Okay, about 1/3 done with the book...taking me awhile to get through it, I don't have the hours and hours to be able to just sit and read it...ugh.

Okay, this is on CNN.com:

• Readers shocked by new Potter book

Uhh...people just love to give things away...

First line or two is about being depressed and I just closed the window.

Sucks...

I read that, and thought whoa...but they did not give anything more away.
