IMO, one of the best vampire novels ever written. I love the educated and scientific explanations they give of vampire mythology. The isolated, post-apocalyptic feel for the novel is a nice touch as well. The first-person perspective really helps. Just wait till you get to the ending . . .
They adapted to a movie in crap-Hollywood form with "The Omega Man" (Charlton Heston, I think) and now there's talk of another adaption. Ah-nuld wanted to do it for a long time and now Will Smith and Michael Bay are talking about doing it. Ugh.

I thought it was good in the scientific aspect of vampirism. However, I was disappointed in the "vampires" themselves. They were more of a zombie than a true vampire.
Schwarzenegger has been trying to get a film version of this made for a while now. The script is floating around on the net, and is actually pretty good.
