Dean Koontz thread
What's your favorite Koontz books, besides the Snow series...?
Lightning
Cold Fire
From the Corner of his Eye
Man he has some good ones. Cold Fire was one of my favorites because you really had no clue from the start where it was going.

I've really liked Koontz' last three books in particular, they seem a lot more . . . developed, I guess you'd say, than his earlier stuff.
He also seems to be abandoning his short titles, as well.
IE,
From the Corner of His Eye
One Door Away from Heaven
By the Light of the Moon.

I'm in the middle of By the Light of the Moon right now...pretty interesting so far.
FTCOHE was great...a long book, but just really a good read.

I thought Whispers was incredible. Really threw me for a loop at the end.
I always thought he was a seriously underrated author. His stuff seems to flow a little easier than most horror authors and his characters and dialogue are always very believable.

He's had some bad ones, at least in my opinion...like Funhouse, Dragon Tears...
One that I like, that isn't even in the realm of sci-fi that he usually writes in, is Dark Rivers of the Heart. Just excellent.

But did you know he's written soft core porn????
According to a email group I belong to (mostly to be in know about book announcements), he used to write some pretty steamy stories under a pseudonym.
Some of the people in the group have every single book he's ever written. I'm not that overboard.

Yeah, he's written under like 5-6 fake names, and I do recall that he wrote soft porn.
Here's a board I used to post on from time to time, but the forum software sucks.

Which one was Whispers?
Talk about a long book. How about Strangers?
I really liked Strangers and Phantoms and Watchers (but every single b-movie made from this books sucks horribly). Apart from the Chris Snow books, the recent book I like the most right now is False Memory.
I am behind though. I have Door to December, From the Corner of His Eye and One Door Away from Heaven. Which should I tackle first?
What is everyone’s favorite part of either of the Snow books? For me, one of the best is the flock of birds in Seize the Night. Any speculation on what Tornado Alley might be?

I'd go for From the Corner of his Eye...Door to December was okay, but not as good.
best scene, if I can remember any of them, was when they ducked into the house on the air force base, when the monkey's came running through...that was pretty intense and creepy.

Lightning!
A friend of mine said Hollywood is considering making Lightning!! My favorite Koontz book! When I read it, I thought it read like a movie script somewhat. It could be easily adapted to a movie, and easily be the best Koontz movie, by far. He couldn't give me any particulars, just said he read it on the net late at night.

Fear Nothing
So based on the recommendations here, I grabbed "fear nothing" from the airport bookstore to read on the plane. A friend gave me the other Chris Snow book, but since it was the 2nd I decided to read the 1st one.
Pretty good so far, 'bout 1/2 way thru. But so far there is too much "The secret is.....ack ack I'm dead!" for me

Just finished Ticktock by Koontz. Couldn't put it down. But I think I'm that way with many of his books.

Okay, I just finished From the Corner of his Eye.
I really liked the premise and many of the characters. I loved the complexity Koontz gave us in weaving so many threads.
However, for me it had about 200 pages too much of not much. I think you could've halved the book, not really lost anything and had a more engaging read.
I now have to figure out what to read next. Whispers or Door to December??
