Chasing the Dime...
I admit it, I am more of a mass-market paperback junkie than a literary critic. Result of spending too much time on airplanes. To me a good book means that I want to turn the pages to see what happens next - Grisham, Crighton, Clancy - Read 'em all.
"Chasing the Dime" by Michael Connelly. This was pretty good. It's the story of a guy who started a company in an emerging tech industry that is on the verge of patenting a revolutionary technology, trying to get $$$ backing to complete the project, but that is really only the background.
The plot of the story begins when he moves into a new place and his phone number is the same as one used by a popular Hollywood "escort", and he receives calls all the time for her. He becomes obsessed with finding out who this person is and tries to track her down.
From there, the story has a few twists and unexpected turns, made for an entertaining read.
