Carpenter to undergo Tommy John surgery (AP)


Chris Carpenter, the 2005 NL Cy Young winner, will miss the rest of the season and part of next year after he undergoes elbow ligament replacement surgery next week. Carpenter hasn't pitched since allowing five runs in six innings of a season-opening loss to the New York Mets. Why is he overrated? Since he's been with STL he's been an ace.

I feel sorry for the guy (as much as you can for a millionaire). When he was with Toronto he was close to retirement because of shoulder issues. Now he has elbow problems.
