yeah, but it gives us another 4 mill in tax, bringing us around 8 million smackers just thrown away, and while Sarver is ok "running the franchise at a loss this season" I dont think he would budge that much.

Cassell hates Suns.
He must choose other clubs.

yeah, but cassell is an expiring contract, so it would save us a HUGE chunk of cash down the road. removing Banks from our payroll for 3 seasons saves us WELL over $8mil
it wouldnt happen anyways. IF it were, we'd probably just buy out Cassell. no way he wants to be in a suns uni ever again.

I would, but it would depend on like others have said, if Cassell would be willing to play here and be a back up in order to chase a title. The Alien always kills the Suns, so having him on the team would surely help us in that regard. He can definitely still play 20 minutes a night, and would be a great back up PG.
However, because of his contract, the Suns would have to send additional pieces. I.E. Piatkowski (LAC fan favorite) & Banks for Sam I am works according to RealGM. If LAC thinks that Banks can actually play and is just a bad fit in Phoenix, perhaps they'd consider it. Banks would probably just end up backing up Shaun Livingston in the long run though, so I doubt they'd want to take on Marcus' contract.
On the other hand, there's this:
http://realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4427364
If the Grizz don't just straight out cut Damon, a straight up trade for Banks works. Maybe Ivaroni thinks he could do something with Marcus, but thats likely wishful thinking. It would be an amazing deal for Phoenix, they move a bad contract, get a soon to be expiring contract, and a veteran who can play 15-20 minutes a game at back up PG (also allows LB to play exclusively the 2). I'm sure the Suns would have to throw in something else though to make the deal interesting for the Grizz, I just don't know what. Perhaps a pick, since Sarver/D'Antoni sell them off anyhow

Yes we would have to include Piatkowski. Cassell wants to be on a contender for his final season so I think he would love to be on the Suns this time.

I didnt follow the team politics closely when he was here before. Did Cassell leave on good terms?

Cassell fits into the Thomas trade exception, so the Suns could make the deal however they wanted. They could (under salary rules) even take on Cassell outright, without giving up anything at all.

Trading Banks is wishful thinking unless we're acquiring another "bad contract" in return.

Maybe ...just maybe they would make a dumb trade.Reports are that Donald Sterling is on the verge of blowing it up and firing Mike Dunleavy. :crossesfingers:

The Clippers' future appears bright if Brand and ShaunLivingston recover fully from injuries, some suggesting it might be best now to get rid of a veteran such as Cassell at the trading deadline, and get younger.
