West Coast Blockbuster

Yep it's another pipe dream trade thread. Having some fun with it no doubt. It works financially but it's more to get some opinions.

SUNS-My thinking was of course to 1st and foremost make our beloved SUNS tougher and stronger and get some defense & rebounding in here. Anyone that thinks we'd miss S.Marion bringing in Artest & Collison are smoking IMO. We'd miss Leandro's scoring but i strongly believe that leading the league in scoring isn't essential in winning a title. We would be a little thin in the back-court.
NASH/BANKS
HILL/BELL/D.J.
ARTEST/COLLISON
STOUDEMIRE/WILCOX/COLLISON
WILCOX/PETRO/DIAW
KINGS-I think the Kings have grown tired of B.Miller and Marion would be an exciting addition and give's them a nice nucleus w/BIBBY,MARION,MARTIN, & SALMONS.along with a true back-up PG in E.Watson although Beno Udrin has shown flashes. Skinner is a throw in to give them some size and athleticism in place of Miller.
SEATTLE- this would be the toughest sell. Losing Wilcox,Collison & Petro for Brad Miller(prob the deal killer) but WTF? They may be interested in picks to build around Durant. They could use some shooters & Barbs will certainly shoot right? They need a PG and Garcia has shown the ability to run things in SAC in Bibby's absence(i like Garcia's game but he's not a PG). Seattle get's awfully soft in the middle after this deal. ???

not really loaded. they gain 2 out of this trade giving us a grand total of 4, which is pretty normal.

Can't get over the Artest thing huh?

No way the Suns bring him in.

I think we've got a Ron Artest manlove situation.

And by the way, teams need guards just as much as big men.

Yes they do. Is there more info coming on that statement?

Again, Im so glad most fans aren't GMs, thats a horrendous trade for Phoenix. You lose an All Star, a near All Star and a #1 pick for a headcase and some role players- whoo hoo.

I do not want Ron Artest. We already have enough egos as it is. I don't think it will help chemistry. I think I'll pass. The only bright side is getting a few bigs.

With all due respect I'm beginning to think you are the SUNS GM with your apparent inability to recognize what's missing(and has been missing) here.
Can you tell me whats wrong with bringing in role players that won't necessarily demand the ball but stick to what they do well and help fill an obvious area of severe weakness? Barbosa is as close to being an all-star as 30 other NBA players.
Artest is a head case yes but so is Randy Moss. Put him on a good team with some good people around him and who knows?
I can certainly respect your opinion on why you wouldn't make a deal like this Hoover but it's awfully safe to continually refute & state what you wouldn't do as opposed to what you might do to improve this team.

Well, I realize for one that the Suns are first place in the toughest conference. I'm also a realist, I think the Suns could benefit from a small tweak, but a major change wouldn't be a good idea in my estimation. I just don't think you jettison players like Marion and LB for a bunch of junk, Im sorry.

If I were GM, Id try to make a smaller move, like bringing in Birdman Anderson for defense, blocks and rebounding on a minimum deal. Or try to find a 3 point specialist out there somewhere. I dont think a major deal is warranted to needed

Ok now we're geting somewhere.
This guy? http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2308918
Any news on his re-instatement? He would definately help us on the court i agree.
Artest would certainly be a high-risk/high-reward type but Anderson isn't?
I don't consider Nick Collison/Ron Artest/Chris Wilcox a bag o junk either.

i wouldn't call those players junk either, however wilcox can't defend his way out of a paper bag. What i don't like about this trade is it probably puts hill coming off the bench. Nash/Bell/Artest/Wilcox/Amare is a solid starting lineup but we rely on hill and diaw to do all of the offense off the bench (along with collison). i'm not sure i like that notion. You could argue for a lineup of Nash/Bell/Hill/Artest/Amare because that gets wilcox coming off the bench as an offensive spark but that lineup puts us in a even worse situation with rebounds.
