Other than Dirk Nowitzki, nobody has gotten less flattering press following their teams' playoff ouster than Shawn Marion. By all accounts, he's sky high maintenance, forever complaining about not getting enough recognition, shots, etc. Supposedly, Suns coaches (Mike D'Antoni is quoted otherwise) and his teammates are tired of babying him. Though it may be true, the fact remains Marion flawlessly fits with how Steve Nash runs D'Antoni's run n' stun system. What's more, Marion won't be better elsewhere, and you can't convince me the Suns will be better without him, I don't care whom they swap him for.
Obviously that's not entirely true, but it is true with realistic trade options. Garnett is not coming for Marion.

With the exception of a few people, I dont think anyone here would discuss marion moving if we werent over the cap by this much. He does truly fit our system, and dealing with whiners is much easier when youre not over the cap as well.
Just thinking out loud. Could the Suns trade Marion and next year's Atlanta pick to Atlanta for the 3rd pick this year? Thus the Suns could get Horford. It would also solve a lot of the Suns problems with the LT (if Atlanta could absorb Marion's contract). Atlanta would get a star player and the Suns would be able to get Horford and keep their other two first round picks this year to add depth. There could be a variation of spinoffs involving such a trade. Also KT's contract would expire next year and the Suns should have money to spend on FA's this year and next.
