To Trade or Not To Trade
Alright everyone, time to come out and state your position.
We are all guilty of thinking about ways to trade him, but who here prefers to trade him than to keep him?
Me: Keep him. There is no one that can do what he does with as little as he requires with the ball. There is no one that can do what he does at his size with defensive pressure. If money, jealousy, and not dribbling are the only downfalls, I say we're lucky.

Its too late to make a big trade in the offseason imo. We are just 3 weeks away from training camp.
I'd keep him and trade him next offseason at the draft or in sign and trade scenarios if he doesn't opt out.
If he opts out I'd simply draft Michael Beasley with Atlantas pick (trade up if its not high enough) and use the full MLE.

I think he means use other assets + ATL 08 to get whatever pick is necessary for beasley.

what other assets? Barbs? Diaw's unmovable contract? Draft picks in the 22nd century?

What are we trading Marion for, again?

I don't think the decision with Marion is clear cut.
I think trading Marion for the right package is the right move but it needs to be done from a position of power not out of a position of need or desperation. As of now it appears the best option with Marion is to keep him and try get some value in return in the next couple of off seasons unless something materializes earlier. I would roll the dice now if the right opportunity came along but it is doubtful.
Come next season Marion has no reason to whine because he can opt out if he is not happy in Phoenix. Actually the Suns could actually get two great years out of Marion if he wants to opt out but gets no takers.

It's funny that the OP doesn't even mention Marion by name, but all trade talk is assumed to involve him. I kind of want to trade him just out of spite. I've heard almost no scenarios, if any, that actually benefit the Suns.

i say only trade marion if you can get a player who can start at pf/center for us and most importantly play some defense, along with a young big of some sort. i really liked the idea of marion++ for AK47 and millsap.

i think it would be a good move on the suns part to shop him around a bit and see what people are willing to give for him. then if the right deal can be made, they ought to pull the trigger. im in no hurry to see him go for less than he's worth, but i dont want to have him leave while we get nothing for him

On the plus side, if we dont trade him this summer, this could possibly be a 'contract year' performance wise for Marion, and we could see a 20/12/3/3/3 out of him, finally win our trophy, S&T with marion and for something like Ben Wallace, draft beasley to replace marion, and have a future of
Strawberry/Barbosa/Tucker/Beasley/Diaw/Wallace/Amare
to look forward to

IMHO, the only way Marion can expect to get an above the MLE deal with another team will be through a "sign and trade". It should be an interesting process because I don't think he's going to get the kind of offers he thinks he deserves.

Strawberry is not our future at PG. The best he can ever be would be a role player.
