The Official Trade Idea Thread

PHOENIX SENDS
Shawn Marion
#24 pick

Philly sends
Andre Iguodala
Samuel Dalembert
Rodney Carney

Don't care about Rodney Carney, but AI can give us scoring, athletic play on the perimeter, and can create his own shot. He also is a decent rebounder. Dalembert is expensive, but need it to make the trade work. Not sure how much they would want to part with Dalembert since he is a 10 and 9 guy for them, but the do get a fantastic rebounder in return.

Philadelphia gets an all-star and a good defensive guy that is already proven. Can breathe life into that dying franchise and combined with their top 10 pick this year, can easily push them into contention for the Playoffs. I would even consider throwing them our #24 pick to make it work.

I just want to get rid of Marion... tired of his magic act in the playoffs.

BTW, I was getting tired of all the "Garnett" trade talk... just wanted to add a different wrinkle.

This might have been something they would think about had they kept Iverson and tried to continue building around him but the 76ers just started their rebuilding process. No way they give up 3 good young players (albeit Daly's somewhat worthless contract) for Marion and a so-so draft pick. This might have been something they would think about had they kept Iverson and tried to continue building around him

Iguodala blew up after Iverson was traded, so Philadelphia isn't letting him go now. The trade also makes no sense for Phoenix because they wouldn't be able to afford extending Iguodala in the summer of 2008.

I like Garnett as much as the next guy, but no way is Sarver paying $22mil for a single player, regardless of how good he is.

Any trade will have to reduce salary in the process while staying within the 125% rule (ie sending out 20 mil...taking back 15).

Not really sure how good igoudala would be against a team like the spurs, he is real flashy like marion and also very athletic but as we see that doesn't seem to be what will get it done vs the spurs.

If the Suns trade Marion for anything they will struggle to win 50 games next year and MIGHT get home court in the first round.

Write it down.

The team is not going to get better by slashing payroll.

Sarver might make more money but dumping All Star players never makes a team better.

You can find a stat stuffer close or at least somewhat close to the stats of marion, we might lose a few more games but if that stat stuffer has some kind of mid-range game or can create his own shot somewhat he actually might be more useful then marion against defensive teams. Someone like Rashard Lewis for example. A lot less flashy and fun to watch during the regular season but at least somewhat capable of creating his own shot and drilling a 15 footer or slashing against competent defense (something marion never does).

Can't really do worse on defense since tony parker and odom went nutso on marion.

Why did dallas beat the spurs last year? I am surprised people still don't know.

Dallas is the king 15-foot jumpshot and slashing team, and those are the only things that are most effective vs the spurs since they like to cover the 3 point line and collapse in the lane when someone drives from the 3-point line inward to slash. Dallas is always looking for the short range jumper and will slash if the defense covers too much. Mix that in with decent 3 point shooting but not depending on it and you have the only team that showed it can truely trade punches with the spurs and come out on top.

this trade is ridiculous. the suns would have to include their Atlanta pick for Philly to even start thinking about this one.

i doubt they even would think about Marion for Iggy straight up. no way would they include Dally AND Carney.

The Offical Trade Idea Thread

Earlier in the year people were talking about the possibility of Dwight Howard on the suns. hes a dominant finisher, great rebounder, and more athletic than anyone in the league. his physicality can help to contain duncan and the likes. remember when he dunked the alley oop at the top of the box against the spurs with 0.2 left on the clock? his strength/length gave duncan all sorts of trouble. I played with the trade machine a bit and i found out that they are only paying howard a little over 5m a year and he only has 2 years left.

I think the suns can obtain him via marion and pick(s). the magic need young talent, since they are losing grant hill. Howard may be hard to take away from them, but i think they can be convinced.

So what will the trade look like?

Marion
Atlanta Pick (should we get it), late 1st round pick or future pick
==for==
Dwight Howard
Turkoglu
filler(s)

well the suns would have to take on more than just howard in order to avoid cap problems etc etc. they can offer us turkaglu, who is a good 3 shooter and a veteran, and a couple chump players if needed. thoughts? other trade ideas?

Note: i Dont mean this thread to be only about dwight howard, just about other thoughts besides all the buzz going around about kevin garnett.

There is 0% chance that Orlando would do that....players like Howard dont come around often enough to trade them. But if they said they would, you should be shot if you turned it down.

Dwight Howard has to be one of the ten most untouchable players in the league. There's absolutely no way he's coming here for Marion and a pick.

But surely players like marion come around every day? and players like KG who is on the trading block can be drafted any old time? and how about allen iverson? surely nobody should trade him, right?
