Shawn Marion to Detroit?

detnews.com

"What is perhaps more plausible would be taking a run a Phoenix's Shawn Marion. Marion, who would give the Pistons' front court the quickness and athleticism it lacks, has two years and $33.5 million left.

The Pistons would have to offer Wallace and another player (Johnson?) to pique the Suns' interest.

All of that is speculation at this point, obviously. But it seems the Pistons are back to where this all started in 2002. In the absence of one true superstar player, you have to have a roster full of really good players who play well together."

Marion for Wallace, #15, Delfino.

Maybe, saves us 2-3M$ too.

Tell me why they'd have to offer MORE than Wallace? Don't get me wrong, I'll take whatever we can get, but Sheed = Marion. Actually, Sheed > Marion. If we got the #15 (Splitter) and Delfino out of this deal (Delfino lit us up earlier this year and he could be our Ginobili), we'd be a SICK team!!!

Nash-#24(Jordan?)-Banks
Bell-Barbosa
Wallace-Delfino-Jones-Pike
Stoudemire-Diaw
Splitter-Thomas-#29(Williams?)

All kinds of problems solved!

Wallace is not a better player than Marion and 2 more years for a total of 26M$ left on it, plus he turns 33 this year.

The Pistons definately have to throw in quite some value to make a Wallace for Marion trade.

Also Wallace would be our Center definately.

you are thinking of Rasheed Wallace correct? the 6'11, 32 year old, POWER FOWARD?

and IMO that lineup is a complete mess. Wallace at SF, a rookie starting. Delfino did absolutely NOTHING in the playoffs this year.

giving up Marion to detroit starts with Prince IMO.

We dont need Prince like we would need Wallace.

Wallace gives us someone that can defend, block shots, shoot, pass, post-up.. Pretty much everything we would want.

Prince is good but, SF is the easiest position to fill in the NBA. We could just draft Thaddeus Young with the Pistons #15 pick and sign Grant Hill and we would be set for next season and the future.

Why does the article mention Amir Johnson though, I would like to have him, but he is a restricted FA I thought.

Pass - we need Sheed on this team like a hole in the head. I think he is a hoot and a good player, but he would not be a good influence on Amare. That's on top of his age and huge remaining contract.

I'd take Wallace for next year. He's not as good as Marion, but he plays well in the playoffs against any team and is very good on D. Gives us more toughness which is always needed, a championship winner. The article said Amir Johnson, I'd take him. He's only 20 and can be a nice bench player...no he wouldn't and neither would Delfino because D'Antoni doesn't use his bench. Then they add the #15 pick, I'd take that.

Not a good influence on Amare, thats bull****, Amare is Amare, you think Rasheed Wallace would influence him in any way? I don't. Even if what has Rasheed ever done that is "bad", by all accounts he is a great teammate, hard worker and good guy. Being emotional and getting technicals isn't making him a bad guy exactly..

Between Wallace and Marion we would definetly have an all time record for technicals as a team!!!!!

Rasheed knows how to win in the playoffs, Marion doesn't. For me it's that simple. And Slin I agree with you 100%, SF is the most replaceable position on the floor. All of you are in love with Marion which is understandable, but his game simply isn't suited for the playoffs. What we need is a SF who can create his own shot ala Josh Howard. That's what this team has missed since Joe Johnson left. We can't always rely on Nash to create for others, we need others to sometimes create for themselves - especially in the playoffs when things slow down and teams buckle down defensively. I know this is simply a writer's suggestion, but I would do it in a second.

The more that I think about it, the more I like it. With the 15th, 24th, and 29th, we should be able to move up to grab a guy that we want in the top 10 as well.

The article said nothing about a pick though. It said Sheed + Johnson.
