Rumor Alert: Suns after Foster/O'neal
From Realgm (again):

Theres a RUMOR on local sports station in Indianapolis that The Pacers and The Suns are talking trade. JO and Jeff Foster To the Sun for Marion and Barbosa.

The Pacers will trade JO and Jeff Foster for Marion and Barbosa..

Here's the thread: http://realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=743838
now i hate to keep posting realgm rumors that in all odds aren't going to happen but like many of you suns fans i will take any bit of hope i can get. Personally, i like a healthy Jermaine. He puts amare back up to his natural position and gives us a defensive/rebounding presence down there to help amare out. The biggest loss for us is marion's defensive versatility. Without him, we can't hide nash against the spurs and such. Foster is also an excellent rebounding big man. So in essence we trade offense for defense/rebounding, and versatility and speed for traditional/fundamentally sound.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=2166~510~3238~250~615&teams=11 ~11~11~21~21&te=&cash=
that would probably be the scenario we're looking at. you can swap tucker for pike if necessary.

I like this trade if O'Neal stays healthy.

i forgot to mention in my original post that this shakes up our depth at the guard spot....
hill could play sg for a few and banks or straw would have to start seeing a few minutes.

This trade stinks. PHX may need to get Amare some help, but they also need a shooter. Sending Barbosa doesn't make sense.
Indiana is looking to trade JO... wouldn't be a bad time in trying to fleece the Pacers.

Not a great idea for the Suns, Marion's role is huge for this team and even throwing in Barbosa for two slow big, sorry that wont work. If Kerr makes this trade he has to fire Coach D as well and change the sytem.
Amare+filler for JO would be a good deal though.

Maybe the Suns trade a 2nd round pick for Giricek if LB has to be moved.

Financial disaster for the Suns. O'Neal's contract is terrible, and he and Stoudemire have barely one heart between them. Pass.

if this trade happens,
the suns will be a half-court team.

I like the deal. I like any deal that screws up D'Antoni's "system," and makes us a real nba team instead of a video game.

so far marion has had a better year than o'neal so maybe you could "fleece" them in that sort of trade. other than that i don't know what you mean by that. they could probably do better than marion for him anyhow

Marion > JO, why would the Suns throw in LB?

can't he opt out next year anyway? i forget.
anyway i think o'neal was somewhat humbled by his last injury. he has been playing with a lot of effort this year, so i don't see that to be a problem. plus he is frustrated with his team and has been for years now so maybe here where he's surrounded with talent he will be more managable. Amare is another story. we can only hope that when he has O'neal hear to shoulder some of the work he will show some effort in games. It's either we bring amare help and hope he responds, trade him with his currently lower value, or let him continue his poor-playing ways.

Rumors are popping up all over the place right now because the Suns are reeling. Not exactly the best time to take advantage of another team unless they are also having problems.
