Post-draft plan....

Well, I'm back from a short vacation and much to my dismay, the Suns had a horrible draft, IMO. Splitter was there at #24 (the Spurs WISELY snatched him up - the bigs keep getting bigger while we toil with tweeners with no position) and Kopponen would have been nice at #29. Oh well.

POR made themeselves a playoff team THIS year. THAT is a proactive and aggressive front office! I may have to adopt them as my #2.

What to do now?

Marion/Barbosa/KT/ATL#1/PHX#1 for KG

Sign Devin Brown (replaces LB), Grant Hill (replaces Marion) and PJ Brown (replaces KT).

We have to give up a bit more to get KG now, IMO, since the draft was a dud. DBrown will come in as our 6th man and backup 2 and he would easily be Monta Ellis this year. He will be MIP here in PHX and he'd make us not long for LB as much.

Unfortunately, I am not happy with a 3 rotation of Hill-Tucker, but to have Stoudemire-Garnett up front, I'll take a thin 3 rotation.

I can't even resolve how to solve the backup 1 postion now. I's unfortunately all on Banks' shoulders, so we shall see how that pans out.

Since we now have a TE from the JJones trade, are there any young 3's making $2.9M who would suit us better than Jones?

I'm at a loss and I know KG is more and more a pipe dream and at this time I hold no hope for a banner in PHX next year....

Portland isn't a playoff team this year. They've taken steps in the right direction for sure, but I don't see them being better than New Orleans or Golden State.

I like the plan, although we'd be pretty screwed. Personally, I'd rather give Marion to Miami for Kapono, Posey, and Haslem. This frees up some salary, gives us much more depth and defense, and will allow us to go and get KG via free agency next year.

They won't do that trade. Marion is not Riley kind of player. Haslem is.
