Reasoning. Portland balances its roster adding vet leadership and a quality starting SF in Marion. Oden, Frye, Marion is a nice mix on the frontline. Sends out a bad contract in La Frentz but also gives up a first next year to even it out.

This would only work if they also sign someone to replace Kurt. Add PJ Brown and Grant Hill to this team and I do that deal. It won't happen though.

But that is the key. Yes, Garnett would replace Shawn's numbers plus anything JJ was adding when he was adding. But who are you going to sign, for cheap, that can replace what KT was doing when he was actually playing?
