NJ-Toronto-Miami idea...

So we know a few things about New Jersey, Miami and Toronto this off-season:

Toronto is apparently not thrilled with Bargnani, and they have a log jam at PG. They also have a hole at Small Forward.

Miami wants to get rid of the #2 pick and move down (but stay in the top 10). They need a Center and a Point guard.

New Jersey wants to cut payroll by moving Jefferson and rebuild before they move to NYC.

So here's my idea:

New Jersey sends:

Richard Jefferson
2008 1st Round Pick (#10)

New Jersey receives:

Udonis Haslem
Mark Blount
2008 1st Round Pick (#2)

Toronto sends:

TJ Ford
Andrea Bargnani
Maceo Baston

Toronto receives:

Richard Jefferson

Miami sends:

Udonis Haslem
Mark Blount
2008 1st Round pick (#2)

Miami receives:

TJ Ford
Andrea Bargnani
Maceo Baston
2008 1st Round Pick (#10)

Toronto does this trade because they eliminate their PG log jam, and get rid of Bargnani who they aren't thrilled with. They get a Small Forward and star type player that can play next to Bosh. Their lineup is: C Nesterovic PF Bosh SF Jefferson SG Anthony Parker PG Calderon

Miami gets out of the #2 pick like they wanted, but they keep a #10 pick. They get a guy who can play the 5 in Bargnani and a above average PG in TJ Ford. They can then either draft a Center at 10 (moving Bargnani to the 4) or a Small Forward (moving Marion the the 4). At 10 there are probably more SFs available, so a lineup of C Bargnani PF Marion SF Dorrell Wright/#10 pick (Randolph? Alexander? Greene? Gallinari?) SG Wade PG TJ Ford is a playoff team for sure.

New Jersey gets rid of Jefferson contract and gets a nice player in Haslem. They can let Blount rot on the bench until his deal is up if need be (though he's certainly serviceable). They can take Beasley with the #2 and be in good shape. A lineup of C Josh Boone PF Haslem SF Beasley SG Carter PG Harris is alright I suppose. Beasley would perhaps be out of position at the 3, but they don't have anyone better (theyd probably take a true SF at 21).

Thoughts?

^ That.

And, Nets basically get Haslem for No.10, which I think is slightly a steal, Haslem is better than anyone on that spot in this draft.

And Jefferson for No.2

Sorry, Jefferson is a good player, but Beasley's Inside/Outside offense and rebounding skills already dwarfs Jefferson.

Beasley will most likely average 22/9 his first season as an inside presense... Jefferson is a slasher, jump shooter type... I wouldnt trade No.2 for Jefferson... maybe Al Jefferson.. but not Richard.

How is it Jefferson for No 2? Jefferson goes to Toronto, and the #2 from Miami goes to NJ.

After thinking about this trade a bit more, I think it favors Toronto too much and is too harsh on Miami. Miami loses 8 spots in the draft and a nice player in Haslem.

I think adding Tornoto sending their #17 to Miami would perhaps make up for that. Though that does mean that Toronto is in essence sending Bargnani, Ford and #17 for just Jefferson, which seems steep. Maybe Toronto could then get Jerseys #21, or #40 or some protected future pick.

Its actually not a bad trade, but I dont think Toronto wants another SF. This would force them to make another move, and I think Ford has more value than this trade is letting on.

Toronto doesn't need Jefferson. Cut NJ completely out of the deal. Make it just Miami and Toronto and things could work out. Beasley right now is a tweaner SF/PF, therefore could play the 3 and 4 in Toronto. Miami needs a PG in the worst way to help out Wade, Marion and Haslem.

Toronto gets: #2, Blount, Banks

Miami gets: Ford, Bargnani, Graham and #17

Toronto new line-up:
Calderon/Banks
Parker/Kapono/Parker
Moon/#2 (Beasley)
Bosh/Humphries/Garbajosa
Nesterovic/Baston/Blount

Miami new line-up:
Ford
Wade/Cook
Marion/Graham
Haslem/Johnson
Bargnani/Anthony

They're still in a predicament as far as roster to fill out but they would have #17 (a big like Hibbert, Speights, Thompson, Koufos) along with #52 (a PG like Anton Ponkrashov, or SG Richard Roby). They could even try a trade with Minnesota of #17 for #31 and #34 to grab guys like Weaver, Lawson, Dorsey, Hickson).
