ok.. I was thinking about this, and while there are a thousand different trade ideas...Maybe something like this one could be a possibilty for Thursday
I think this trade makes total sense for each team
Minnesota:
they get their big name in return for Garnett, in Pau, a proven scorer in Miller, move up 3 spots in the draft where they can get Al horford/Brandon Wright, AND get 2008 ATL pick... Their rotation of
That is a VERY solid team, and MUCH better than the one they have at the moment, that team is young, tough, and will have the abilty to score in bunches..
Griz:
New Coach Ivaroni has his dream come true as he gets to start making the team his wants right off the bat... He gets An All Star and the 6th man of the year on his team, and now they can run, and be exciting.. this trade makes them instantly better, and cuts payroll as well, which is a bonus... their rotation of
They have a team literally built to run... they will have considerable more talent (for a running team which Ivaroni wants) and with the veteran leadership of Marion and Barbosa, they could be in the playoffs again next season....
Suns:
The Suns add Garnett without having to give up Stat.. They also add the #7 pick in the draft, , where they could probably go with Brewer if still available, otherwise Green would probably be the pick here...also adding most likely Grant Hill
the starting 5 is the best in the league and with Brewer/Green, JR, and KT coming in and each playing their role, this team would be a veteran team, with some great young pieces of the Future like Amare/Brewer...

that is probably the most unrealistic trade I've ever seen considering the Grizz would be laughed out of the league if they did that and ended up starting the lineup you have above. they're team would be 5'10, 6'4, 6'7, 6'9, 6'8 - that lineup would get crushed by last year's NCAA Champs.
seriously - Warrick at C? that's not a team built to run, it's a team built to lose 78 games. they have no inside scoring, their one and ONLY rebounder is 6'7 and, well, i don't mean to rude, that trade just would NEVER happen. You have the Grizz getting rid of a relatively young low-post threat who averages 20 and 10, a 15 ppg, 5 rebound, 4 assist guy and the Fourth pick in what people are calling the best draft in 20 years for 29 year old Marion, who has no inside game, the 6th man of the year and two very low first draft picks? Sorry man, that's just not in the cards.

It seems to me in this scenario that the Suns might consider Law, or Conley if he's there. I can't see them giving Banks LB's minutes.

The Grizzlies want to get out and run... Thats one of the reasons the hired Ivaroni.... To RUN.... Gasol, DOESN'T and has said multiple times He wants to be traded (always backing off, only to come back and say it again)... And to top it off, they are trying like hell to sell the team and cutting pay roll, while not cutting Talent is a HUGE plus inthe eyes of the owners...
And what you don't seem to get, for a coach, it is all about personel...

Barbosa > Miller
#24, #29 < #4
Overall I think it is reletively even, and I could even see instead of the ATL pick going to Minnesota, it could go to the Grizz.. so
#24, #29, ATL Pick < #4.... #4 is still worth more, but its closer...and with the upgrade in talent of the players, the trade at the very least is a lateral move in Talent, that suits the new Coach, AND CUTS PAY ROLL...
I only put Warrick in the Starting lineup because of the running, Swift has started at C for a lot of his career, and though you don't like him, he is a serviceable "C" and with skill role players of Marion, Barbosa, Gay and Warrick around him.. that team would NOT be "laughed out of the league" as you put it...

Like Marion for #4 plus perhaps a player in return or LB for #4 plus a player. Memphis is the only team I would trade LB to because of his Phoenix connection there. Also trading Marion to Memphis would save a bunch of money. I don't think the trade would come down as I describe but I think these two team can make a fair trade without one team trying to get the better end of the trade because I think they have good chemistry with each other. Boston might also be a good trading partner with Phoenix for #5 but I'm not going there now.

I agree. IMO
Marion for M.Miller & Swift(no picks unless you think they are needed) is a fair trade for both teams.
Memphis adds star power to their roster & we add much needed depth at the 4/5 with an athletic big, plus Miller would give us a guy who can make big shots & would add to our half court game.

Its really not that complicated though... I mean its a BASIC three team trade....
Grizz inturn send Miller, Gasol, #4 to Minnesota (by the Way, it is reported this morning that McHale WANTS to move up in the draft and thats a big thing in the Garnett trade)
Minnesota sends Garnett and #7 to phoenix....
It is not that unlrealistic of a trade.... Everyone gets what they want, Although McHale did say according to a report this morning he wanted an expiering contract as well, so maybe we send KT's contract to Minnesota, in exchange for someone like Jaric giving them even more reason to do the trade and cap room... jus a thought...

Its basically stupid. Even though Gasol has been hurt a lot, he's more the type of guy to build your team around than Marion is. This is just a flat out awful trade for the Griz. They aren't moving their top 2 players for Marion and LB.
Furthermore, any trade that nets the Suns Future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett AND the #7 pick in a loaded draft is just insane.
Its basically stupid. Even though Gasol has been hurt a lot, he's more the type of guy to build your team around than Marion is. This is just a flat out awful trade for the Griz. They aren't moving their top 2 players for Marion and LB.

I see your point, Maybe I over vaule Barbosa, because I really think he could be averageing 30 PPG in the right situation being the man, and under Ivaroni, in a running system being the guard who has to score, I think he probably could average 26-30 PPG, add that to Marion, #24, #29, AND the ATL pick, and I thought that would be a pretty fair deal for the Grizz, IMO...

You have good points. But nobody(IMO) we trade with is gunna want to give up their high draft pick in a deep draft.
the only way I see us getting Memphis's first rounder is if we send Marion #24, #29, Atlanta's 08, for Miller, Swift, & their pick this year.
You guys know swift and miller were on the last placed team this season right?
Marion has been on some bad teams also.

Were talking about adding these guys as good role players and adding depth. Which is what Marion is(a great role player, with bloated cap number).
Millers shooting will help our half court game tons. Marion hurts this team in the half court.
Swift would be a solid backup center/PF for this team. I can see him getting 12pts/8rbs/1.5blk for this team. With Amare inside Swift will get all kinds of easy stuff. Not to mention how much better Amare will be at PF letting him go off.
