Jeff Foster

What do you guys think about Diaw for Foster straight up? Foster is a really underrated blue collar guy, he has no offense, but he's a monster rebounder and is a pretty good defender. We could put him at center to free up Amare and he'd fill a big need in a defensive big.

Diaw is a base year contract player.

I really like Foster, but I wouldn't give up on a player with Diaw's ceiling for a just a dirt worker.

That would be a horrendous trade.

Diaw is officially on the dead to me list along with Marcus Banks, Mike D'Antoni, and James Jones. I'm tired of having to wait on his "potential". Foster is a guy who always produces, and who's strengths coincide with our weaknesses.

Are you Jeff Foster, trying to get some Jeff Foster to PHX buzz. Thats the only way I could see this trade being logical to you

Jeff Foster comes ready to play every game. We need a real center who can get boards and D up, not an unmotivated tweener forward with a questionable work ethic.

I'm not flaming you. Do you understand base year contract? This has nothing to do with Foster and everything to do with contract matching and the collective bargaining agreement.

Phoenix Trade BreakdownOutgoingBoris Diaw
6-8 PF from France (Foreign)
9.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.8 apg in 31.1 minutesIncomingJeff Foster
6-11 C from Southwest Texas State
4.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 0.8 apg in 23.2 minutesChange in team outlook: -5.4 ppg, +3.8 rpg, and -4.0 apg.
Indiana Trade BreakdownOutgoingJeff Foster
6-11 C from Southwest Texas State
4.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 0.8 apg in 23.2 minutesIncomingBoris Diaw
6-8 PF from France (Foreign)
9.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.8 apg in 31.1 minutesChange in team outlook: +5.4 ppg, -3.8 rpg, and +4.0 apg.

Failed ScenarioDue to Phoenix and Indiana being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Phoenix and Indiana had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did not happen here (only Phoenix met the condition). This trade does not satisfy the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I really think Diaw is going to have a much better season this time around. Foster is a nice player, but not anywhere near the Boris Diaw we saw in the 2006 playoffs. I'm willing to give Boris a mulligan on last season if he shows up in shape with a little more fire in his belly.
