wow. Why would MIN make that trade? That does not make them better now, or in the future, unless Marion opts out. In that case, they might as well have kept KG.
I really dont think minnesota is in the 'better now' business when considering a garnett trade...
Marion staying or opting out helps them either way with a replacement vet or as expiring contracts and just because we dont want kwame doesnt take away the fact that he is a young athletic big man with slight annual improvement.
oh add lakers 2008 to min and ours to pacers, forgot that part.

Minnesota has no reason to even think about this. 2 expiring contracts and Marion who has threatened to opt out for their 2 best players. If Minnesota was just looking to dump salary they would demand that some of their bad contracts go in place of Davis and even if that didn't work they would just keep KG and let him walk next summer. 1 year of KG is worth more then 1 year of Marion, Thomas & Brown.

Right. As with most multiteam proposals on message boards, there's one team that completely gets the shaft, and in this case it's Minnesota. If all they want is cap relief, they can spend the season sucking and let Garnett leave.

It's more than that. Next summer, the Wolves will be below the cap and can still expect to work a sign and trade without bothering with expiring contracts. His huge contract this year makes him extremely hard to move.

They won't be under the cap unless they renounce Garnett, at which point they'd have no leverage whatsoever for sign-and-trades, since they would have forfeited their ability to offer the extra year or bigger raises.

Assuming Hoopshype is correct and their projected salary would be $61.3 million before Garnett opted out; then without Garnett it would be $37.3. million. This would mean they could use a sign and trade up to the cap without any reference to his bird rights.
