AZCENTRAL: Marion Trade: 50-50
A 'team source'
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepu...ckley0607.html
Excerpt: - But soon, the sticky decisions begin, most notably how to handle Shawn Marion. If they can trade him and get great value in return (ie: a high draft pick), the Suns will solve the long-term financial puzzle in one maneuver. One team source said it's about 50-50 that Marion gets jettisoned, but if he stays, something or someone has to give.

So what they are saying is that he will either be traded or he wont.

For them to disclose to the press that there is any significant chance he'll be traded means that the Suns want him 100% gone, but it's only 50-50 because they don't know if anyone will take him....
Good. I hope they unload him....

Definitely Maybe!
I can say with full confidence that I do not know!
Edit: but yeah, when someone is 50-50, they arent really 50-50...

Law of averages:
Suns 100% want to trade him
If no team bites, there's 0% chance a trade will happen
100% + 0% = 100%
100%/2 = 50
Therefore, 50-50

Good? How is that good? Marion is a big part of the teams success. Before unloading him can be good we have to see what we get in return.

I've wanted Marion gone since Peja lit him up in the playoffs 2 years in a row. Great regular season records don't mean jack if you can't get out of the 2nd round and Marion is a MAIN reason for that....

Marion is hardly the "MAIN" reason. If you want to blame someone look no further then the coach. D'Antoni's defensive assignments are nothing short of brilliant.
Marion does everything the coach asks of him regardless if it's a good idea. Marion's rebounding alone has kept us in games. There were far worse playoff performances from other guys then Marion.
If we can't get something good for him in return, then trading him makes this team worse not better.

I didn't say "the" main resason, I said "a" main reason. Big difference. If you could list the top 3 reasons for our playoff shortcomings, Marion would DEFINITELY be up there....

We will agree to disagree. I think Marion has been asked to play out of position more the last few seasons then any SF in the league. So I would replace the name D'Antoni with Marion as a "main" reason.
Marion's contributions have far outweighed any negative he has brought to this team. He still does things and puts up numbers no other SF does in the league. You subtract Marion from this team the last 3 years and insert John Doe small forward this team is worse not better.

Probably the same whiny crap he's always feeling. "I should be the man, youknowwhatI'msayin'? I don't get the respect I deserve, youknowwhatI'msayin'? I shouldn't be traded, Nash and Amare should be so I could truly shine, youknowwhatI'msayin'?"

I don't want to see Marion leave. I think there are too many Suns fans who under-rate his impact for our team. However, if we can get something good in return and relieve some of the financial pressure then i'm OK with it. There have been a lot of trade ideas where we are getting nothing near the value he gives us. Rasheed for Marion would be a huge no for me.
I would prefer something involving a high draft pick, possibly something with Boston can be worked out, or Gerald Wallace (S&T) and some other pieces.

Was he playing out of position when he was guarding Peja, a SF? Marion averaged like 10 points to Peja's 28. Anyone Marion guards scores that much. Overrated....

I guarantee he is at home crying right now as we speak "How can they do this to me....I'm the leader of the team " It wil be interestign to see what happens either way. Its like the Kobe situation where if Marion doesn't get traded now he is gonna have bad feelings towards the suns possibly. Who knows
