Looking over the complete list of free agents, i noticed another nice player. devean george is now a free agent. sure he was once a maverick, but i think he would do well with us. he is a great defender, and can hit the 3 pretty well. thoughts?

He's the kind of guy I'd love to see brought in for the minimum, but he's also the kind of guy that somehow will get most or all of the MLE from some dumb team.

Devean George has a career scoring average of 6.0 (he had 6,4 ppg last season). He has a career shooting percentage of 39.3% (39.5% last season) and a career three point average of 34.2% (35.3% last year). His playoff stats were far worse.
D George is basically a defense specialist. I'd rather try out the Suns' draftees who are reputed to be defense specialists who are not very good outside shooters either.
Devean George = Jumaine Jones. Ask Greensborohill about him next time that he stops by. Or ask any Mavs fan for that matter.
of course the mavs fans dont like him, i dont think he is a good fit for their system. but for ours i think he will play much better. we know he has it in him, look at how well he played back with the lakers. He's almost like raja bell, but with a little more size and not quite as good of a shot.

Not quite as good of a shot?
Last season Bell averaged 14.7 ppg, shot 43.2% and 41.3% for three (205 of 496). In the playoffs, Bell averaged 10.2 ppg but shot 46.0% and 44.4% for three.
Last season Devean George averaged 6.4 ppg, shot 39.5% and 35.3% for three (53 of 105). In the playoffs he averaged 3.5 ppg on 20.0% shooting and 25% for three.

i'm not sure what you're saying here. i said he doesnt have as good of a shot, and the stats you posted proved just that. His shooting in the playoffs last year isnt saying much because they were only in the playoffs for six games, and i'm pretty sure he didnt see a lot of playing time. yes he didnt average many points, but he was on the team that won 67 games and behind josh howard of all people on the depth charts. he isnt a good fit for dallas' system, hence the lack of play time

with the signing of grant hill, that's probably all they can give. i bet another team out there will offer more, and he already has rings so our offer of a shot at a championship doesnt mean as much as it does with hill.

My point was that he is not a good shot under any conditions, not merely not quite as good as Bell. It's like saying Banks is not as good a shot as Nash.
