Remind me of some of the trades that almost happened over the years... Here are a few I could think of. I may be wrong on who was involved but here it goes.

Tracy McGrady-
Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson

Shaq/Kobe
Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson

Shawn Marion, ATL pick, 24 pick

Dalembert
Joe Johnson

I know there are more and I know these are not entirely accurate, but for a while I really thought TMac was going to be a Sun

Dennis Rodman for Dumas and I think a draft pick, Barkley and Rodman would have cleaned boards all day long, nut Dumas checked into a rehab

Dikembe Mutombo for I cannot recall but he went to the Hawks (stupid Hawks).

Edit: He was supposed to come here as a free agent and chose the Hawks...

We also nearly got David Robinson in '00 or '01, cheesebeef will know. I don't remember the players involved but I think San Antonio backed out of that one

Another one I recall is Detlef Schrempf but the Sonics got him and he was the bain of the Suns for about 5 years. Also the Suns tried for years to get Rik Smits from Indiana but that never really became anything. The most common theme is the Suns attempt to get a true center and always failing like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football

I found it, Mutombo did almost get traded before he hit the free agent market. This trade would have changed the history of this team entirely

It was Marion/Jacobsen and #7. The deal would have happend if it were JJ instead of CJ.

whoa - don't remember that one - you sure? The Spurs just won a title in 99. don't remember this at all.

Sad thing is the player the Suns wanted and were sure wasn't going to be there slid to 9 and is also a pretty good player.

Are you sure you arn't thinking of Duncan signing as a FA. Kidd was spouting nonsense about talking TD into signing with the Suns(like how he said he was going lure Marion to NJ).
