Trade Diaw + Barbosa to the Knick for David Lee, their #6 pick, and trade exception, and maybe expiring contract as filler.
D'Antoni want both of them every much. We r close to tax threshold because of large contract of Diaw and Barbosa so Sarvar will be reluctant to spend. New York never care about luxry tax. So let's give them 15M. Diaw and Barbosa r key contributor in D'Antoni's system, it is a very fare deal to ask for David Lee and the #6 pick. Maybe we save 10M through this deal, that'll give us enough cap space to use the full MLE.
David Lee is a very solid player, defends, rebounds, and hustle, he should cover our 4 very well.
At #6 we can really pick a high potential PG to cover Nash, both for next season as main backup, and for the future. May Mayo slip this far? Or Russell Westbrook is good enough. http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/prof...westbrook.html
At #15, there r quite a few good choices a SF. We worked out Donte Green who has a lot of potential. But to contend for championship next season, I would like Brandon Rush, who is a far better defender and more accurate 3p shooter, can be our starting SF immediately. http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/prof...andonrush.html
If we successfully save 10M, we would have a full MLE to spend. 6M is good enough to find a solid experienced wing player. Pietrus might be a good fit, or some1 else.
__________________ About halfway through the 70-minute workout, Bucks assistant coach Brian James told the players he wanted them to "put the ball on the floor," meaning take a dribble before shooting. Fesenko was first up, and after taking a pass near the baseline, he softly set the ball on the court and walked away looking puzzled as if to say, "Why did you want me to do that?"
I'm not sure how exactly "Trade Exception" works, but last year we did get rid of 9M contract of KT. I'm sure Sarvar and Kerr r planning similar thing this year.
We all know Sarvar won't go far beyound luxury tax. We hope to trade Diaw and Barbosa for a serious starting SF but it appears very difficult for now. Reduce payroll by 10M is the only way to free up our full MLE to sign a quality FA.

Dont think the KT TE is valid anymore.
You can't reduce 10M in payroll, unless you have a team that is willing and able to absorb the hit. No team (Philly maybe) has that much cap space. (not to mention the draft picks it takes) So if they don't have the space, you have to get around 8.5M back.
Trade exceptions can be used on only one player and cannot be combined. Usually, this means you can accept a player without giving equivalent contracts; but that is not likely to help the Suns in most situations.

Slight correction, they can be used to obtain multiple players. But you are correct in that multiple TE's cannot be combined, nor can TE's be combined with players in trade.
However it's done, I would love to get #6 from New York. Also I don't think the Knicks think much about taking on extra salary, at least if they get something they like out of the deal.

I think Lee is pretty good, but I'm not sure he's the answer to the Sun's issues.
Agreed. He's definitely a 4, so he would have to come off the bench behind Amare. Lee is probably an upgrade over Diaw, but I don't think a particularly large upgrade, especially if they overpay him to the same degree when his rookie contract expires.

The KT TPE is worth $8,091,189 and it is valid until 20 July 2008
The James Jones TPE is worth $2,900,000 and is valid until 29 June 2008
Both will be avaiable to use before, during, or after the draft (which is 26 June 2008) to acquire a player(s).
TPE's CAN'T be combined with a player(s) to acquire other player(s).
