The 2007 ASFN Fantasy Baseball League
With the pitchers and catchers just a few weeks away from reporting to camp, and Spring Training right around the corner, now's a good time to discuss what's forthcoming-- the 2007 ASFNL Season.
For those who have never been in a league with me before (which is pretty much everyone), here's how I'm gonna run things.
I'm going with the basics. I do head-to-head rather than rotisserrie, that way those who aren't quite up to par with the game can compete too.
I'll be doing 10 players. If neccessary, I'll set up multiple leagues.
Anyone who wants to sign up, please post your name here.

I'm definitely in. I like both your ideas of head-to-head matchups and capping the league at 10 teams max (that's how my friends and I do it). The usual ASFN leagues have way too many teams (their still fun) and it becomes too crazy.
I say you set the playoffs a couple weeks early and the winners of each league (assuming there will be more than 1 league) will square off at the end. I will volunteer to keep score if necessary during the "championship week."

I'm with you here. I think the more people you have in the league, the more cluttered it becomes. I think a 10 team roster keeps an equal balance without causing you to have to spend months trying to find that 3rd OF, digging through garbage piles hoping to find a gem. I don't mind looking for the hidden gems, however when you're looking at the prospective of facing either Jose Cruz Jr or Abraham Nunez as your 3rd OF... Yeah.

Sounds like a great idea. If we have four, we can work something out, and if you're willing to keep score, I'm definitely down with the idea.

Good to see your in Greg.. Now I know who will be second behind me in the standings (JK).
Also, a few quick questions..
1) Should we make this a keeper league? We've got a pretty good nucleus of posters here who I feel confident will be long term contributors to the board and we just might make this work.
2) If we get a second league, should I break the leagues down based off experience? Say, put the first timers in one league and vets in another? I'd truthfully rather see the vets and rooks mixed, that way if they need help, we can offer that assistance to them, however I also can see the side that doesn't want to throw these guys to the wolves.

Hah! It's too bad this is done via Yahoo, because I think we all could go to a bar and do a live draft. THAT'd be fun.
Also, I posted a few questions for you guys to chew on in a previous post.

Damn I was going to take Jose Cruz Jr., Shawn Green, Troy Glaus and Russ Ortiz in that order. I guess I'll have to rethink my plan.

I would be for a keeper league. Like you said, there are enough serious posters to make it work. We could do a seperate keeper league if you wanted?
I say have a even mix amongst the league. That way seems to be more fair in the long run.

I already got Hillenbrand.. I'm also picking Elmer Dessens as my Ace..
Also, I'm upping the ante.. Winner of the league gets a free copy of Angels In The Outfield.
