would you do this trade?
Let's say the draft falls the worst possible way for the Cards and the top 4 are Russell, Thomas, Peterson, Johnson. Miami would have to be salivating at getting a shot at Quinn and they have 9 picks in the draft.Would you do this trade if you're the Cards FO
Cardinals give: #5 pick(1700 points)
# 38 pick (530 points)
Dolphins give: #9 pick (1350 points)
# 40 pick (510 points)
# 60 pick (300 points)
# 108 pick,4th round (78 points)
we'd move back in round 1 and 2 but pick up an extra 2nd and 4th rounder. It works out about even(+8 points for the Cards) on the trade chart.
I think the Cards would do this trade considering their top 2 guys,AP and Thomas, would be gone. At 9 they can still get either Brown or Branch, who i think are 3 and 4 on their board. That would give the Cards picks 9, 40, 60, 69, 105, 108, 142, and 215 and a draft that would look something like this:
1- Levi Brown
2- Charles Johnson
2-David Harris
3-Tanard Jackson
4-Doug Free
4-Michael Bush
5-Matt Spaeth
7-John Abbatte
that's a pretty nice draft .

I would do it but I don't think Levi Brown gets past the Houston Texans.
Thus I would actually trade down again and try to get Joe Staley. Thus picking up even more picks.
BUT with that being said I would want to try to get nothing but 2nd and 3rd round picks everytime we trade down. This draft class is not that deep and I think after the third round you will see guys that will struggle to make rosters in the fall.
Maybe drop again from 9 to 25.
I don't know the points system off hand but I know the Jets have two second round picks. I am sure we could get at least one of the second round picks, and maybe a 3rd or 4th by trading down. The Jets would be able to pick up a good cornerback at 9 which they need.
By trading down twice we would have THREE second round picks, and possibly two third round picks.
I would take the chance Joe Staley will be there at 25, or Justin Blalock.
Probably would never happen but it is fun throwing ideas around.

If that's how the first four picks fell, I might do that trade. However, I'd have to think about it for a while, if Adams Gaines were there! I would think the Cards would want to interview him, before the draft. If he passes, then he might be the guy at #5. Also, I do not think Matt Spaeth will last to the 5th round. I'd say early in the fourth.

I would do it too. But instead of trading down, I would trade back up to grab either Staley/Blalock.
Willis with the #9 and Staley/Blalock with the 2nd 1st rounder.

Yup. I'd do it, and wouldn't concern myself with Brown. If he's there, great. If he's not, then I'd take Willis and look for a T in the second or third round. Our hole at OLB is almost as big as our hole at LT.

Exactly, or you can use your aquired picks to move up and grab Staley/Blalock at the end of the 1st. If Thomas isn't there, I'd like to see them draft 2-3 OT, and let them all battle.

Seems like a fine idea, but some on the NFL network believe that QUINN will go to Cleveland, and that Detroit won't pass on a franchise back (Peterson). If so, then there's a good chance that THOMAS drops to #5.

Since the Shaub trade.
And it wouldnt matter if the Texans were in front of us as they wont take Brown anyways as he is a horrible fit for their smaller OL zone blocking scheme.

I think Adams is #3 on their board, At the least he would be before Branch IMO.

Looks like I am the lone guy that would not do this trade. I take quality over quantity. I think we are more likely to get a difference maker at the #5 slot than the lower slots. I tend to believe Whiz and Graves when they say we are very likely to keep our #5 slot. I could see us trading down 2-3 slots but no further and even then they must have a guy in mind they can get and want.

Quinn does probably go to the Browns.....and I like Brown as an OT better than Staley.
