Thanks Mitch. I enjoy reading your posts. Who would you the Cards to get in next years draft and free agency? Do you think the Cards will keep paying Rolle if he continues to struggle?

I'm so happy none of us are GM's to the Cards. I disagree with almost all of it.

If I eat my words, so be it, but I would venture to say St Pierre never earns a starting job for any NFL team anywhere

Mitch, I like nearly everything you post here but you need to lay off the vodka.

What is with the love affair with Antonio Smith? The guy has zero pass rush skills. He rarely gets a push and his sacks generally come from the QB being flushed in to him. Our biggest need is a consistant pass rush and Smith just doesn't cut it. Campbell should be ready next year so I think we should let Smith walk.

There isn't a GM in the league who would take St Pierre as their QB of the future over Matt Leinart. St Pierre was a free agent this offseason, he didn't exactly have teams lined up to sign him as their answer to their QB problems.

I like Antonio Smith because he is the kind of blue collar player you must have with today's salary cap.

Mitch you are way off on almost all of your points
$14 mil for St. Pierre, are you nuts?? On top of trading Leinart. You have made it abundantly clear you hate him. Did he rape your dog or something?

What we need are play makers. I don't know what Campbell makes per year but I'm sure Iwebema is making less money.

Sure but you can't count on getting guys like that every year in the draft. Just look at last year, we got nothing from our 2,3 and 4 slots. And we don't even want to talk about some of the other drafts. In addition we saw what having the youngest team in the NFL got us during the McGinnis administration. You must have seasoned veterans who, while they aren't the worlds greatest playmakers, can at least hold their own on Sunday.

My whole point is that he doesn't hold his own. His pass rush is non existent. We have the players to take his position so I say we let him walk after this year and spend the 3 million elsewhere. If he steps up his game for the rest of the year I'll re-think my position.

Our GM has spent the last 4 years or so putting together what we have now. Show me 1 other team that starts to trade a bunch of players to "get better".
We don't even know if there will be a salary cap next year. I would think things will get worked out so that there will be a cap because I refuse to believe the owners really will let this happen.
But lets say there isn't a cap. The Cards are players now and will be able to play with the upper crust as far as salaries go, especially if we make the playoffs this year. New stadium , increased revenue, naming rights, concessions makes that possible. So the fear of losing Dansby or anybody else might be a moot point.
If there is a salary cap it will certainly increase allowing us to sign Boldin , Dansby and anybody else we really want.
Steady as she goes boys. I'm not trading anybody. I might add I would certainly entertain extending a few players this year.

That's where we disagree. I think Smith does hold his own. But not much more. We did get a real find in Campbell and if he can replace Smith that's fine and a real sign that the Cards are moving up in the NFL World. We are now replacing adequate players with exceptional players instead of replacing bums with adequate players.
The proof is that the guys we let go are now playing for the Jets instead of loading luggage on jets.
