Time for Warner to Start Acting Like a Leader

Given his position it is time for Warner to Start Acting Like a Leader and to stop stirring up the Boldin thing. All indications are that Boldin is looking to undermine the team chemistry to draw attention to himself and his agenda. It was nobel of Kurt to offer $2M of his deal and to constantly speak out for him but now its time for him to be quiet and look out for the best interest of the team. There are $23M reasons to do that. Boldin is under contract, we have proven to be able to win without him, we have other receivers on the roster, we will hopefully be able to run more effectively.

Would it have been nice to trade him to his liking and for fair value? Yes but it didn't happen. Would it be nice to extend him to a fair deal? Yes but he is unrealistic re his value. This thing will fester and Kurt needs to steer clear because the leverage is with the team because Boldin chose to sign a contract. Time to focus on the bigger picture Kurt. The team has given you the money and the weapons.

I have not heard Kurt speak out lately. Is there any links or stories that are recent?

"I've never wavered in understanding how important he is to this football team and how much we need him," Warner said. "He makes us a different football team."

Warner tries to understand both sides, he said. Management has the resources to deal with a limited number of extensions each year, and those closest to free agency usually are a priority.

"The thing I look at with Anquan is he has been here to build this thing from Day 1," Warner said. "He was here when there weren't a lot of pieces around him. He put in the work, he busted his butt, he was a leader.

"Sometimes you have to reward guys not always for what you know you are going to get, but what they have committed to your team. We're not the same football team, I'm not the same player without Anquan Boldin."
I agree with this topic. Those quotes could have easily applied to Wilson, as well, but Kurt seems fixated on getting his guy back. Between this and his contract negotiations through the media, I'm ready for Kurt to be quiet and concentrate fully on football.

Everyone talks about how we dont need Q and I laugh. I guess those 80+ catches, 1000yds and 10 TDs did nothing for us last year huh? I dont care what the team does with him anymore, but to say he doesn't make us a better team is comical.

Maybe Rod Graves could quit saying that he wants to get an extension done. Rod, get it done or shut your pie hole!!! Don't put the blame on Warner.

Any chance Warner's public comments are more for Boldin's benefit?

Not quite sure about him lobbying for every player in contract negotiations. It's a dangerous game to play, no doubt. And I'm sure he values Dansby, Wilson, etc. but if he spoke out on their behalf I can certainly envision a thread that asks what business Warner has in meddling with the defensive side of things.

Warner isn't exactly known for staying out of media trouble in his career but I think if anything, his lobbying and offers for Boldin will only help him in terms of leadership with his teammates. When Favre essentially sided with management when Javon Walker was wanting more money was a problem for the team I think. But the players are always going to have an "us against them" viewpoint in terms of management so as long as Warner stays on the players side of things it shouldn't be a problem.

whatever side of the coin you fall on with Q it doesnt matter. To say that Warner doesn't act like a leader on this team is absurd. He is respected by the entire team and lead us to the super bowl.

I can guarantee you when its time to lace them up and play Warner will do what he has done many times in his career and that is win games and lead this team.

Our team leader (Warner) was contemplating going to the Niners not long ago. Loyalty starts with the dollar sign.

Warner was in a position to take a free Jet ride and eat a dinner with the whiners but he made up his mind before they even went out to dinner he did'nt want to stay any longer in that **** hole.

Its sad I guess that Q is'nt in any position to take himself a jet ride anywhere to get graves off his pen.You have to do what you have to do sometimes with this front office (IF) you ever plan on getting ANY results.

I think Warner see's that Q had his chances before Fitz signed his deal and he blew it bigtime. Now there is no way he's gettin that kinda dough outta graves. So a little I got your back talk never hurt anything.I have'nt seen anything over the top at all.Have you?

Q loves his teammates. So they have got him at least happy to go to war with them, when the time comes.I just don't think he will till then.

Exactly, and if he cared so much why did he eat up a third of cap space. All he did is run his mouth about how important it was to keep the core group of players together and then he went out and took most of the money. He does need to shut his pie hole I don't really care that he got the money I think players need to get theirs when they can but to say what he did and to continue to say what he does it's all bull. He got paid and he knows he will look terrible if he doesn't speak out so Q can get what he got. If he really wants Q so bad take 3 million off a season and it's done deal. I'm sorry about the rant but I'm tired of hearing Kurt talk about Q's money after his little trip to 9er land and all the money he got for doing it.
