it still makes me laugh to think anyone actually believed for a milli-second that Coach Smack's last team was going to be anything but an absolute abomination.

Barring a bunch of injuries, I've seen enough and heard enough to believe quite firmly that the Cardinals can win 10 or 11 games this year.

There's no reason they can't win 10-11-12 games. They've got the weapons on offense. All they have to do is give the QB time to utilize them.

They've got a veteran defense; for the first time in years no rookie starts or even plays a critical backup role.

They've got one of the NFL's best special teams coaches in Gary Zauner.

They've got a home crowd in a terrific stadium with great amenities for the players.

They've got the 1925 NFL Championship...oops, nevermind, 5-11 again.

Love the optimisim with minimal kool-aid. It's a good reminder that we're so used to getting our hopes dashed that we downplay the little successes and get nervous at our challenges. But these days respected posters like Mitch are talking more about depth concerns than about filling our myriad holes with unproven rookies. The NFL really is about parity, and I think this year we're a part of that!

10-6! I'll probably faint if I see it!

I guess some never made a prediction that turned out to be utterly ridiculous, I have, if you make any decent amount of them you'll get there eventually.

I love the NFL commercial that makes fun of this, it's hilarious.

Anyway, when I compare us to other teams, 10-11 wins isn't out of the question, as always they have to win the games but that's what predictions are all about.

I don't know about you, but I've made any prediction as ridiculous as the Cards winning 9 or 10 games going into Mac's last season... and considering I used to do a lot of ether, that's saying something!

A lot of people get a pass predicting the Cardinals wins and losses, some people take the easy road, 4-12 5-11 6-10.

That's easy, if you'd just predict that every year you'd be like a genius.

We all know this, it's not news to us, however sometimes and it pops up randomly, the losing gets to you and you see things, much like a man dying of thirst sees an oasis.

This is not a new thing, it's happend to me, I used to feel Stoney Case just might be the one!

It's what I call the Cardinal delirium, it sneaks up on you as the losing stacked on losing with a losing topping, weighs on you.

So I never hold one or two bad Cardinal predictions against someone, humans have a need for hope, it's normal.

Now some aren't built that way and can handle the endless negativity just fine, to each his own.

having hope going into a season like this year, or in 1998 or the year after Mac took us to 7-9 or even last year is understandable - I had it, most of us did, but there were reasons to have that hope.

Having hope and stating a team is a playoff team after arguably the worst off-season of all time, while coming off one of the worst seasons of all time I can't understand. That ain't because I can "handle endless negativity". It's because it was PAINFULLY obvious to anyone not completely out of their mind that we were going be atrocious. My goodness, our starting WRs on opening day were Bryan Gilmore and... LARRY FOSTER.

Some say negativity. I call it reality.

I believe! Hope to wake up every morning. Hope that my family is safe from harm. The hope that in September of every year that my team will get to the top, find a way to win. Every September, during every game I will be there to scream and shout even if it's at the TV. This year we DO have a pretty good team. I think we can win the division. My win lose prediction at this time of year even when Tupa was the starting QB is 16-0..Let the games begin.

This has always separated and defined the true Cardinals fan from, anyone just jumping on the bandwagon.

Have we ever had anyone jump on this wagon?

I am optimistic that this is the year it all changes, but then last year I was optimistic, and the year before, and the year before…..

Maybe that is what defines a true Cardinals fan?
