Ok, so how many guys in the league right now fit that description?
In a 3-4?
Haloti Ngata, and Shaun Rogers* (*only when he is trying)
In 4-3 ?
Kevin Williams, and Albert Hainsworth

If your opposed to getting a DT that can do it all on a hall of fame level (pretty much what I am describing (take Sapps name out of it if it helps you) than what do you want a bad player? lol
Yeah, that's what I'm saying: I don't want a HoF lineman on the defense. The Cardinals should have thought of that before.Maybe they'll see the light and try to draft a hall of famer in next year's draft.
What I'm saying is that you are describing Darnell Dockett's skill set. Would I love it if he could play like Sapp in his prime? Yes. But HoF linemen aren't a dime a dozen.

I would love to get Suggs or George Selvie next offseason. NFLDRAFTCOUNTDOWN has us getting the Alabama offensive tackle Andre Smith in the first round next year
I think Watson has shown enough to think he can continue to develop. I am not going to guarantee any PB's or anything but he certainly has the size, athleticism, and now the desire if you read into his comments before Buffalo game.
And while Hayes in undersized I think he is one of our more consistent defenders now that he has stayed healthy.
The thing is that Good DT play frees up and allows for good MLB play. Lets see what Hayes (and Dansby) do with Gabe back and performing well.
I think what seperates us is a Permier OT and a competent FS and/or shut down CB.
I am starting the Taylor Mays bandwagon now so everyone get on.....!
How is Hayes undersized? He is 6'1" 249lbs. Ray Lewis 6'1" 250 just as an example.

Gabe is a beast. This was his first game back and made a big difference. I seen push on the d-line and our linebackers getting around the ball to a very good team. With Gabe and DD we are fine.
Dansby is just getting warmed up. Now think of this, we need improvement on defense, not the '85 Bears. Our defense was the reason we didn't make it to the playoffs last year.
Superbowl? Are you kidding me? It's way early yet to find what we need to contend to be the best, but it takes a playoff spot to get there. You can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket.
So basically you are saying if we add a hypothetical perfect Defensive Tackle with NT like ability to stuff the run and redirect the line and UT like ability to rush the passer and then add a hall of fame type ILB we would be a superbowl team, shocking.
Ya know what, if we add 5 hall of fame o-lineman, Champ Bailey, Deion Sanders, and Ed Reed we would go undefeated.
Realistically, watch the last 2 games over again. We give up a big play after big play due to overpursuit by the FS. Rolle might be the answer still, he is new to a position and we will know later this season if he is or is not, but the dink and dunk we can contend with, it is those long bombs that sway momentum and take us out of games.
If we want to be realistic at this point our biggest needs are probably a FS and a TE who our QB is confident in. Yes, Patrick is an excellent athlete and yes Pope is perpetual matchup nightmare, but that doesn't do anything for us if our QB is not confident enough to feed those guys the ball.

If we had one of the following two we would be a superbowl team imo
1) A DT like Warren Sapp or Pat Williams in place of Gabe Watson. Gabe was a steal in the draft and would be great to rotate in but he isnt an "answer" at DT. There are no potential Pro Bowl season in him.
2) A MLB like Ulracher or Lewis. Gabe is good enough to get a stellar MLB all the room he needs to make game changing plays/performances.
I hope we get a stud DT in next years draft. Plus you never know if Dockett will go elsewhere.
We would be halfway there had we used the Leinart pick on Haloti Ngata. Just saying...

Regardless of what happens to Leinart as an NFL player, that was the right pick for us at that time. I don't know if there's ever been more consensus on a draft pick.

Nope try again.

I wanted Jay Cutler, but hindsight is 20-20.
