The All-Sexy Cardinal Draft 2008

You wanna go sexy? Here it is:

1. RB Felix Jones, Arkansas. This guy is lightning in a bottle. A perfect compliment to Edgerrin James or anyone else in the backfield, cause this dude can flat-out fly.

2. FB Owen Schmitt, West Virginia. A physical freak. Big, tough and sneaky fast. Would become an icon in Arizona and have his own rooting section.

3. WR Harry Douglass, Louisville. The epitome of the slot WR...shakes free on every route, has hands of velcro and the elusiveness in the open field of Marshall Faulk.

4. FS DaJuan Morgan, NC St. Will slide some due to youth and inexperience, but this kid is a star waiting to happen, a la Adrian Wilson.

5. CB Trey Brown, UCLA. May be the best kept secret in this year's draft...a real gamer and has all the quickness, competitiveness and skill of virtually all the corners in this draft. Because he's a tad small (5-9, 185), he will slide.

6. LB JoLonn Dunbar, Boston College. Dude made HUGE interceptions in big games that enabled BC to beat the likes of Virginia Tech, Miami, Clemson, Michigan St., etc. Plus, he's a downhill tackler who is always around the ball.

7. OLB/DE Nathan Peterson, Oklahoma St. Sack artist who will slide due to sub-standard size (6-2, 240)...but this kid is the Antonio Smith of this year's draft.

Owen Schmitt is on my wish list. They kept track of how many face masks he broke while blocking. Let me say that again. He broke so many face masks they started to keep track.

The only thing unsexy was that there was no P or K. I loved the rest of it. In fact that was my favorite mock thusfar. I guess sex sells.

I like Douglas and Jones.. but I think Schmitt might be available later, and even if he isn't.. we can probably get a FB later in the draft.. I love him as a player, but 2nd round he is not great value imo.

You'll never see a Mitch mock without a BC player somewhere in there.

I guess everyone has a different opinion of sexy because that draft does nothing for me. I'm no Owen Schmitt at all, especially not going 2-3 rounds higher than projected. Here's what's bringin' sexy back:
Round 1-Rashard Mendenhall-will be the best back in the draft
Round 2-Antoine Cason- got to get the people(led by Gee) on my side .
Round 3-Carl Nicks-as mean as an OL you'll find. He will be a first rate player someday.
Round 4- DJ Hall- playmaker and a deep threat from Alabama. Has some issues but will be good value here.
Round 5- I'm hoping for one of these 4 to drop,Darrell Robertson, Bruce Davis, Jason Jones, Shawn Crable. Crable is the most likely to fall but they'll likely be gone so i'll go with Durant Brooks.
Round 6- Larry Grant,LB OSU, he's has all the tools but got kind of got overshadowed by Laurinitis and Freeman
Round 7- Dexter Jackson-speed extraordinaire.

Here are the results of last year's "sexy" draft, lined up in order from left to right:

As usual, I wasn't wild about our first rounder (what was Graves thinking?) And then Pick # 3 didn't even make the team! (But looking at this picture, I wonder why this person was even selected at all)

But, all in all, I guess 3 out of 7 starters wasn't too bad.

Nice draft except for Owen Schmitt FB. Way too high.

I would rather have Danny Amendola Texas Tech as a slot receiver in maybe the 4th round than Douglas, but Douglas would be my 2nd choice at that position.

Where does the sexy part come in?
