TE Becht chooses to stick with the Cards
Becht chooses to stick with the Cardinals
Posted by Mike Florio on March 10, 2010 9:37 AM ET
Finally, a player who had the ability to leave the Arizona Cardinals has chosen not to do so.
Tight end Anthony Becht, a former first-rounder who played college football at West Virginia and who conducted a youth football camp last summer less than two miles from where I'm sitting, has agreed to terms with the Cardinals on a one-year, $950,000 contract, according to a league source.
Becht visited the 49ers and the Raiders.
He was one of four first-round picks of the Jets in 2000, and he also has played for the Buccaneers and the Rams.
Last season, he appeared in 16 regular-season games for the Cardinals, starting 10. He appeared in the wild-ass wild-card win over the Packers, and he started in the division-round loss at New Orleans.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports via Twitter after visiting the Raiders and 49ers, TE Anthony Becht has decided to re-sign with the Çardinals on a 1-yr deal for $950,000.

Last night it sounded like he was going to the Niners. Cardinals remain proactive.

Waiting for Gohard to talk about how much of a scrub Anthony Becht is.
Even though he's probably better as a blocker at his position than ANYONE on the Niners roster sans Staley.
Nice resigning. I was very impressed with the overnight turnaround that we saw from our TE corps last year. Probably the best I've seen from any Cardinals team since they've been in the valley.

The key with Becht is that he is a good blocker which is critical in Whisenhunt's offense.

PFT puts a lot of useless info in their updates.. Sometimes it makes reading the updates difficult because you have no idea if its related to the actual update, or just some useless talk..

Notice that the 49er's are interested in every Cardinals player they have a chance at...
Just recently, Matt Ware and Anthony Becht.
Smart of the Cardinals to bring Becht back for another year!

So far this is the best signing the Cards have done. Becht is the best blocking TE that I can remember in a long time. It's about time we finally started signing some of our own guys.

I still think the Cards will look at a TE relatively early in the draft. Get a guy like Gronkowski/Gresham and let Becht show him how to block for a year and then let him take over.

Becht doesn't do much for me, I don't want to see him as anything more than the number 2 TE this season.
