Surprise Go and Surprise Stay
I'll leave it up to Londonpete, Mitch and others to guess the final 53, but I'm just trying to come up with the surprise cut and one suprise guy making the team.
1. Surprise Go-Joey Porter. He has been decent in coverage, but, imo, hasn't shown any pass rush ability in the PS. And that's supposed to be his Raison d'Etre.
2. Surprise Stay-Cyril Obiozer. He's younger, cheaper and has shown some PR. I was going to say Quan Sturdivant, who has shown next to nothing, but feel that the team might have seen something in College to keep him around.

I'd be fine with both.

Maybe Porter is gone but I dont think it would be for Obiozer. I havent seen the pass rush that would garner a spot on the team, so if Porter goes it would be for a guy who is cut from another team IMO.
Obiozer hasnt exactly been lighting it up in practice that we have heard of, and in 3 preseason games he has a grand total of 2 tackles and 1 QB pressure. Against 3rd and 4th string scrubs.

There's no one to replace Porter, and as long as we see Schofield on the return unit tomorrow night, I have no reason to believe that we'll let Porter go. He reduced his salary, and generally that's a guarantee to a player that he'll make the roster.
Surprise Cut: Jim Dray, TE, Stanford. :sniff: He's my boy, but Darren Urban has stopped replying to my tweets propping him up. Maybe he'll come back after we cut Alphonso Smith as the FA RB we sign will come up to speed.
Surprise Keep: Kris O'Dowd, C, Southern Cal. Did you know that Ben Claxton is 31 years old?

K9,
O'Dowd goes to the PS....no surprise here. Claxton is liked, but Hadnot can play C....we need room for depth at other positions.
Jim Dray....is he PS eligible? If so, he goes there, otherwise, he is gone, I agree. See above re: other positions of depth.

My surprise Go: John Skelton, High Ankle sprains can take a long time to heal, and Wiz may waive-Inj him, hoping to get him back after he heals.
My surprise Stay: Brodie Croyle, Wiz will not go with 2 QBs.

Jim Dray is not eligible for the PS, as he was in all 16 games last year.
Same as Max Hall and Max Komar.

I don't know if you can pay three OCs--even if one is on the PS. Hadnot's the swing OL and hasn't played OC in God Know's When unless he's getting practice reps somewhere in camp or something.
Dray is not PS eligible. I hope he makes the team over Steven Spach just by virtue of being a draft pick and good special teams player

Nope,..... Skelton stays, may end up as #3 due to his ankle sprain, but ahead of Croyle, IMHO.

Pork Chop Womack is not a surprise go, unless he really shows something in PS4, he is behind too many people to make the team.

I like the premise of this thread. Those were my picks.

He could go on the PUP making him ineligible for the first 6 games. I think that is the way it works. Croyle could be the third string qb and let go when Skelton returns off the PUP.
We just don't know how bad his injury is at the point.

Jim Dray, if he makes the team, it will be because of special teams.
I think S. Spach is aware of this, and is the backup LS to provide
his own special team ability. The question is whether Wiz will go
with the youth or older guy. However, I think King will take Spach's
TE spot, squeezing out Spach.
