Superbowl ticket drawing...

Does anyone know exactly how the drawing for SB tickets is done? Do we have to submit our names as interested parties? OR do they put the names of selected STH's in the drawing based on number of tickets and how long you have had them? If drawn you then have the option to buy the tickets? Is that how it works?

My understanding is that everybody is submitted into a weighted lottery. Weighting will be based on number of years as a season ticket holder and number of tickets held.

Being selected will give you the opportunity to "buy" tickets to the Super Bowl, which range in price from $600 on up per seat. When I was awarded tickets two years ago, I had to go down to the ticket office in Tempe to pick them up and they only accepted cash. Unlike most winners, I actually went to the game in Detroit. It was a pretty good experience.

My entire row was allocated to Cardinals fans and pretty much every other fan sold them for a profit. The Steeler fans who were next to me bought them from somebody in Queen Creek.

.

There will only be about 7,000 tickets given to the Cardinals from the NFL, 1% for being an NFL team and 9% for being the host team.

You have to figure the season-ticket holders will see about 5,000-6,000 of them.

I would also guess (not fact, but a guess by me), that since they have guaranteed one Super Bowl ticket for every two club seats purchased, they will probably do the same thing to those selected -- offering one seat per every two seats you hold as a season ticket holder.

For instance, if you have 8 season tickets, they will probably not offer you 8 Super Bowl tickets if you are awarded tickets. I would imagine that they will give more people a chance to attend.

When I got tickets two years ago, I have four season tickets, but was offered only two Super Bowl tickets.

As I recall from XXX, having more seats was good for increasing your odds of being picked, but winners all were offered only two tickets regardless of account size.

That would make sense. Nobody wants to go by themselves and if you're picked, you should be happy you have two.

When the Cards win the NFC Championship, how many more tickets do they allocate (ducking for cover)?

CARDINALS ANNOUNCE

SUPER BOWL XLII TICKET INFORMATION

Tempe, AZ – With Super Bowl XL taking place next Sunday in Detroit, that means that Super Bowl XLII in Arizona is just around the corner.

For that reason, the issue of tickets to Super Bowl XLII, which will be played at the new Cardinals Stadium on Sunday, February 3, 2008, is top of mind for many fans this week. As the host team, the Cardinals receive a limited allotment of game tickets.

During the 2007 season, the Cardinals will conduct a weighted lottery to determine which season ticket holders will be able to purchase Super Bowl XLII tickets. The lottery will be weighted based on the number of years an individual has held season tickets and the number of tickets in the account.

In addition to the lottery, those fans who commit to a minimum of a five-year license agreement on midfield or sideline club seats will be able to purchase two Super Bowl XLII tickets for every four club seats in their account. Stadium loft holders with a minimum of a five-year license agreement will also have the opportunity to purchase Super Bowl XLII tickets. This is a limited time offer that is subject to availability while inventory lasts.

Existing Cardinals season-ticket-holders are reminded that the seat relocation process for the new Cardinals Stadium begins this Tuesday. All existing season-ticket-holders will have the opportunity to sit down for a 20-minute appointment with a Cardinals representative to select their seat location in the new stadium. The process is by appointment and expected to take six to eight weeks to complete. Any current season ticket holders who have not received information on their appointment or who have not RSVP’d are asked to call the Cardinals ticket office at 602-379-0102.

While new season-ticket purchases will not be processed until the conclusion of the relocation process, interested fans can reserve a spot on the list by placing a deposit now. Fans can do so on-line at www.azcardinals.com or by calling 602-379-0102.

Based on Super Bowl XL figures, they would get another 17.5%.

SB XL ticket distribution
AFC Champion - 17.5 percent
NFC Champion - 17.5 percent
Host Team (Lions) - 5.0 percent
Other 29 Teams - 34.8 percent
NFL - 25.2 percent

So my 10% Googlemath was off quite a bit. The Cardinals will basically get about 6% of the tix or 4,380 tickets. After loft and club holders, the amount for the mass of season-ticket holders has to be next to nothing.
