Steusie expected to be a June 1 casualty

I really doubt we'll sign anybody, but I like both Bobby Taylor and Todd Steusie. Taylor fits our defense and would bring needed experience at CB. Steusie (A former Green player) could back up both tackle positions at a very low salary.

I would love to see Bobby Taylor on this team!

It's nice not to have to rely on these June 1 cuts for starters, but we do need to find at least 2 quality backups there, IMO. We need a T and a CB, I think.

I'd be stunned if Steussie signed here, he was one of the guys Green cut in Minnesota that left with a REALLY sour taste in his mouth.
"The Vikings cut tackle Todd Steussie, who had criticized Randy Moss' effort in the NFC title game, after Steussie refused to rework his contract. Some observers wondered if there was a connection between Steussie's relationship with Moss and the team's request that he take a pay-cut to remain a Viking."
Steussie went off on Moss and complained about Green having a double standard with Moss. Green then demanded Steussie take a paycut, they fought for months over, Steussie announced he'd accept the paycut, and Green cut him anyways.
After he was cut Steussie publicly semi-ripped Green for being dishonest with him. Steussie was the guy I mentioned last year who allegedly was cut because Hargrave went to Green and said Steussie is bad mouthing you in the locker room. That's the blurb I posted last year after we hired Hargrave where it said some of his ex players in Minnesota felt he was a snitch for Green, he buddied up to the players, and then went back to Green and told them everything that was said.
Steussie when he left was on about the same level of relationship with Green that Kendall was last year after Green cut him.
So if we pick up Steussie, we'll be trading for Kendall the next day.

Jeff Diamond the Vikings GM when Denny was there re-signed Steussie to a large contract the Green never was happy with. Diamond overpaid many players and got the Vikings into cap hell. He had a power struggle with Green and lost. Green then took over player personnel matters. Diamond went to the Titans and helped build them into a playoff team but also got them into cap hell which is were they are now. Green was trying to re-work many player contracts but ended up cutting many of them.(Jeff Christy, John Randall, McDaniel, etc). You can go back to the archives and repost articles but it was much different living through it. It was not pretty but I blame Diamond not Denny for the problems.

Taylor would be a great pick up IMO, he's not quite what he once was but he is a vet, can still play AND could teach Rolle, I'd pick him up for that reason alone ....we have the cap space I believe...

How Times Have Changed...
6 months ago, I would have been frothing at the mouth each time even a mediocre free agent hit the market.
Now, I'm not so sure I'd want any of them. I kind of like the hand dealt us.

I'm not blaming Green, I'm explaining why it's HIGHLY unlikely Steussie would sign with us, he likes Green about as much as Kendall does. Right or wrong, he blamed Green rather publicly.

Yeah, I do recall that he was quite upset.
